Cam Newton Public Workout

Again, the media HAS been harsh about Newton's footwork (which has been regurgitated on this board), and HAS been harsh about him playing a spread offense (which has also been regurgitated on this board).

Again, you can answer your guesses why he's doing a private workout this with this:

"Cam is ready arm-wise and footwork-wise," Whitfield said Thursday night. "We've had a heckuva of regimen, but he has really made some giant strides in getting this routine from under center down. His dad is seeing that, and saying let's go public before the [NFL] Combine."

George Whitfield and Cecil Newton are perfectly objective observers, right?

So am I supposed to believe that these scouts will pass on Cam just because his dad is scheduling a workout? If that's the case then they suck as scouts and you shouldn't take anything they say seriously.

You said there was "nothing bad" about their doing this. BCG said nobody was annoyed by it except us. This link is a response to both.

What Newton's dad needs most to realize is that prospects don't dictate to the NFL. It's the other way around.

If they declare that this workout is all they needed and then decline to attend the combine and/or Auburn's pro day, they're going to hurt his draft stock. What we think about it doesn't matter. What NFL teams think of it could mean everything.

Everything Mr. Scot has said in the negative for Newton is pretty much a copy and paste of Rang.

Rob Rang is touting Locker... does that tell you anything?

I'm so glad his dad see's that he has NFL talent.

I'm sure he's not biased and looking for a paycheck or anything. Nothing in his past would suggest that.

I'd trust Cecil Newton's evaluation on NFL talent over anyone posting here.

Considering he spent two years with the Cowboys as a Strong Safety...

Hell, I'd trust his evaluation before Rob Rang.

And that gives him the ability to speak objectively about hiw own son...how, exactly?

Really?

Kaepernick, Locker make different last impressions

Tuesday's practice seemed to be a step forward for Locker, who needed to make a solid impression all week to become more than a fantastic athlete with potential. Wednesday he struggled again to connect consistently with receivers while standing in the pocket, coming up short on multiple throws to the wide side of the field. It is clear the Pac-10 star passer is aiming or pressing, trying to be perfect on every throw instead of allowing his athleticism and arm strength to shine through.

If Locker cannot exhibit NFL-caliber accuracy on seam or out routes when playing against air in one-on-one drills, or even against a half-effort pass rush in team scrimmages, it is hard to project him doing it during his NFL career.

This coming from someone who said were all racist for not liking Newton

What Mr. Scot and others have said is what most people say about Newton and his flaws. Only a few people who will probably defend him his whole career see it the other way.

That tells me an idiot because Locker never has been and never will be a good passer. It is amazing though that there are so many people who believe that Locker can be fixed and turned into a great passer, but assume that Cam is a lost cause and has bad character.

So what "flaw" does this workout reveal? The freakin thing hasn't even happened yet and you're bashing him for it.

I never said that. Mr. Scot portrayed me as saying that. But please lie more.

This is so funny to me...

I'm NOT Pro-Newton. If he doesn't come play for us, I'd give a fug less what he does.

If he busts in the NFL, I'll say "Hey, he's a bust. I was wrong. Oh well." If he lights it up and wins the Super Bowl, for anyone but us, I'll say "God damnit, I was right, this sucks."

I am Pro-Fixing the fuging Panthers because our QB play is the worst in the league. IN MY OPINION, he gives us the best shot at that with the current stable of FAs and Draftees. Period.

"He wasn't quite as good as he was yesterday, but he was very solid. I thought that it was certainly a better practice than he had Monday. So he has shown the improvement throughout the course of the week that you're looking for from him.

"In talking with scouts, they know of the struggles that Washington has had with the offensive line, the drops they have had from skill-position players. I think you've seen the potential that Jake has, and that's all scouts want to see is that he does have that potential. That wasn't just the film lying to them, and that he has shown the improvement that you're looking for and that's what's going to lead to him ultimately being a first-round pick."

Yeah, Rang says Locker is going in the first round.
