Cam Newton Public Workout

We already have essentially two rookies on roster. We draft another one, at any round, and that's three draft picks used on the quarterback position in two years. Not a good strategy, especially for a team that not only doesn't have a bunch of extra picks, but is already down one rather high pick.

Says the guy who stated not even a month ago

"You have to take Luck! You cant pass him up!"

Funny how you were all on board to bring in a 20 year old sophomore under the sole reasoning of "he's the next Manning", but bringing in an obvious upgrade in Cam Newton is gonna set us back. Yeah...riiiiiiiighhht. Scot is a flip flopper.

Luck would have been worth the risks.

Nobody else in this draft is.

I'm not especially concerned with America's needs. I've given plenty of thought to the Panthers' needs though.

If our top two options at quarterback are both guys who aren't really going to be ready for full-time starter status for two or three years, then what do we do about this year?

If we sign a veteran quarterback who's capable of starting this year, then why do we also turn around and use a high draft pick on one? We've already got a high pick on roster, and regardless of anyone's opinion, he's not going away just yet.

Throw in that trying to get two different projects with less than a year's experience ready for the season at the same time is already enough of a challenge for a coaching staff. The possibility of three is way too much to ask.

We need veteran options, not another rookie, whether it's Newton, Locker, Mallett, Gabbert, Kaepernick or anyone else.

A different year, different circumstances, and maybe it makes sense.

But not this year :nonod:

How much do you actually believe that an aging veteran is going to help us "this year"? 8-8 maybe? Is that your big goal, because that's about the only realistic goal you could possibly have for 2011, regardless of who we draft/sign to play QB?

I guarantee you that Cam could do that for us even while he's learning to play the position because he is capable of moving the chains in situations where those vets will be nothing but sack meat. Frankly, I'm sick and tired of watching Panthers QB's crumble like a freakin rag doll under pressure.

I guess it depends on whether you want to win long term, or a quick fix that will make your team decent. Me, I'm ready to go against everything John Fox would have done, and swing for the damn fences this time.

It amazes me that I'm getting so much sh*t for this after all the times I was accused of defending John Fox's conservative approach. Well I'm ready for agressive and very few people seem to be with me for some strange reason.

He sure is.

Oliver Luck oversees his sons decision making =GREAT DAD, HEARTWARMING STORY

Cevil Newton oversees his sons decision making=OVERBEARING, HE NEEDS TO DIVORCE HIMSELF FROM HIS DAD, ONLY ABOUT MONEY, BLAH BLAH BLAH

Now that's some funny poo right there.:D

You're exaggerating for comic effect, but there is some truth to that, I believe. Luck senior did spend a lot more time publicly defending his son's decision to stay in school than Andrew did, so he is obviously involved.

Cecil Newton recieved money in exchange for his son to go to a certain school.

Oliver Luck defended his sons decision to stay at STANFORD UNIVERSITY and finish his degree instead of going after the big payday.

If you can't see the difference in those two scenarios, there is no helping you.
