Cam Newton Public Workout

Where did you hear Gabbert was out of weight?

My issues with Newton really aren't exactly his system so much as what his system asks of him giving me question marks. I do not think he is the next Leaf, Russell, Vick, McNabb, or Big Ben. He's his own dude. However, I also seem some big upside there, I just worry about how much of his athleticism will translate into being an NFL QB.

I also have questions about Gabbert, but perhaps those would be better discussed in one of the million threads about him? :P

Im sure people will dismiss this

The biggest knock on Gabbert is his dedication in the weight room. He has often come into the season overweight and out of shape. Questions have popped up about his size multiple times, as he has been overweight multiple times. The combination of that, his inability to read defenses and the way scouts have been drooling over his cannon arm have led many to compare him to JaMarcus Russell, not exactly stellar company.

This was there knocks on Newton.

On the flip side, Newton could become anything from a larger version of Michael Vick to Kordell Stewart- that's a pretty big discrepancy. He has often times relied too much on his pure athleticism and skill to compensate for his inability to read defenses. He also has questions regarding his character following his years of Florida.

When pure skill would carry you in college, you need the IQ to read and understand defenses at the next level. If Newton can get that down pat, then watch out.

Fair assessment as I see it.

So all those white QBs, did they have stats like Newton? Did they go undefeated all year and win the BCS? Did they win the Heisman? Do those white QBs have his height of 6'6" and size at 250 Lb.? Can they run a 40 in 4.5-4.7 seconds? Can they leap from the 7 yard line while out running a CB to extend the ball past the plane to score a TD?

There's no QB in the draft that has accomplished as much.

So what's wrong with Newton?

Bleys is an apologist for white racism and ignorance. And another Panther fan that will bolt ship if we integrate our QB roster. He's very much pro-segregation when it comes to our QBs. Dudes can sit up here and stereotype successful black people all day and Bleys will never speak against it or call them out for it. Only give his quiet support. The only person on the Huddle he's willing to call a racist is a black person. I wouldnt expect Bleys to lobby for one to be his NFL QB.

I've asked you to be a stand up person on many occasions and this is all you got?

check my facebook and you'll look even more foolish than you already are.. you're a clown. you have an agenda and you're not looking have a discussion. you're just looking to troll..

say what you will KT.. ooooh yeah, I'm a big racist pushing the white man's agenda... funny how my friends with the same skin color as Newton feel different..

carry on, I've asked you to step up enough times now to have a real discussion only to see you ignore it and run to other threads.. it's obvious you aren't looking to be heard, but to harass..

it's really funny that you take things I've never said or implied, only to turn them into some huge fabrication, while NEVER taking a moment to get to know me...

KT: An honest question.

Do any of your posts contain anything of substance or are they limited to calling out perceived racism where there is none? Do you ever take the blinders off for a second to realize that black (oh my G-d I used the word black!) quarterbacks can be analyzed and critiqued just as much as a white, Hispanic, Jewish or purple polka-dotted quarterbacks? I honestly don't understand why when anything involves an African-American football player any comment made about them is made because of the complexion of their skin. What you're doing is hypocritical, petty and serves precisely no purpose.

Why do you insist on doing this all of the time?

read above... there's only one answer... he's pushing his agenda to troll the forum, while Zod and company ignore it all...

If this site is so "racist" why do you waste your time here? And if JR is so "racist" why are you still a fan? Enough of your pity tour. And if the users on here are "racist" why are they pushing for Mcnabb? Isn't he Black?

are you kidding me? don't play into his bulls.hit.. now he's going to give you some huge declaration that this is his duty to single handedly wipe out the white supremacist agenda...

any valid points you raise will be ignored, while you "secretly" push that agenda..

think of it this way, KT is sitting on his couch, spent way too much time watching porn and eating cheetos... and the only thing left to do is get a rise out of this forum...

You realize this guy is some student at University of Florida, right? He says Gabbert has great pocket presence and says Newton can be the next Mike Vick. Come on. You should know better than to cite BR.

I've never seen a single reputable source say anything about Gabbert's weight. In fact, I've seen a lot of people around Mizzou's program say just the opposite, also indicating how much he's in the weight room, like this article from 2009 http://www.columbiatribune.com/news/2009/aug/27/gabbert-learning-to-harness-the-howitzer/

I wish people would just stop with all this racist BS and just realize the you can't teach Gabbert or Luck to be 6'6" 250lbs and run a 4.5 40, but you can teach a guy with those attributes how to be a pro QB. And so what if it takes a little time? A QB is supposed to be a long term investment anyway, not a short term fix. I don't know where people ever got this idiotic idea that a top 5 QB has to play and succeed right away in the first place. To me that's ass backwards because the goal is to make sure your biggest investment pays off in the long run, not to just throw him out there immediately to sink or swim, regardless of whether he's ready or not.

I guarantee you that Aaron Rodgers would have struggled if he had to play as a rookie, but the way they brought him along worked out perfectly and now they have an elite QB for years to come.

Who's pushing for McNabb? Im here because Im an actual REAL Carolina Panther fan who's family were original PSL holders. My name is underneath one of them Panthers in front of BOA like alot of people on this site. As a long time fan Im worried about the overall stigma and negativity associated with our franchise and owner. Too many people on this board think its just me or that its gonna go away. But its not, its only going to get worse and I dont think having half the city think your organization is racist is beneficial to any of us. If we do pass on Cam, its gonna put a lot of pressure on our QBs next year to produce to justify it. Pressure Im almost certain they cant handle. I dont think some of us understand the magnitude and importance of this offseason and establishing things have changed. More of the same is just not gonna cut it fellas.

Unless the population of Charlotte recently dropped to two, the notion that "half the city" believes the organization is racist is pretty silly.

I'd say a good portion more than "half the city" remember Rodney Peete, and are smarter than to discount him as somehow not a "real" black quarterback :frown2:

...you can't teach everything about the quarterback position.

btw, Gabbert also has so called "ideal size"... 6'5' 235 isn't exactly a slouch either.

why don't you call it like it is, only KT and blackcat are talking about racism...

any other points you've raised are valid, but if we are going to be accurate about the facts, let's get them all right... matter of fact, let's not beat around the bush about it...

as for Newton, if we pick him, I'll be happy with that.. it means the scouting department and coaching staff see enough positives to turn him into a franchise QB... but those pushing the racist agenda wouldn't like me saying that..

if you're such an advocate for humanity, you wouldn't tuck tail and run when someone tries to talk real poo with you... instead, you'd rather throw poo at the wall and see what sticks... I've never seen you get real with someone.. that at least applies to me...

I guess its what you consider reputable. BR has had some good info and some bad.

People also blew off that about JaMarcus cause they fell in love with his size and big arm.

"Jake is married to JR's daughter"

Yeah the city of Charlotte would never believe the Panthers are racist and show favoritism at the QB position at the expense of their franchise. You guys are so delusional. You're so convinced if we draft Cam Newton we'll be a laughing stock when we already are the laughing stock! I just watched my 2 QBs combine for 9 TDs and Im supposed to view bringing Cam Newton as a "risk"? GTFOH! Everyone sees the double standards now. Everyone knows whats most important to us now. Its not winning and its not getting the absolute best talent we can at QB. Thats certain.
