I'm still waiting for those regrets to kick in.

I think people are way to caught up with it being the #1 pick. The number isn't whats important it's the need and potential that matters when drafting. I don't think the Panthers will draft him but I don't think it would be a bad pick if they did.

Because the sentiment you and some others displayed in this thread is prevelant in any thread discussing a black QB in this board. The character attacks, the negative potrayals. Black QBs bring an ugliness out of some people that we see over and over and over whenever one is suggested to this fanbase.

His dad is the biggest hurdle for Cam right now. If he shows promise at the combine and on the wonderlic though people will look past that. He has all the tools to be good. Still lots of teams put up with over bearing parents and mentors. Look at Peppers. No one had a problem signing him away from us and everyone knew his agent was a pain in the ass.

So all those white QBs, did they have stats like Newton? Did they go undefeated all year and win the BCS? Did they win the Heisman? Do those white QBs have his height of 6'6" and size at 250 Lb.? Can they run a 40 in 4.5-4.7 seconds? Can they leap from the 7 yard line while out running a CB to extend the ball past the plane to score a TD?

There's no QB in the draft that has accomplished as much.

I am looking forward to the workout. It will be interesting to see what the work with his coach has netted Newton. I would think they believe he will turn a few heads or they wouldn't have scheduled it. Should provide quite a bit discussion and grist for the mill. These kind of events are what make the offseason bearable.
