Cam Newton Public Workout

Please show me where I've accused any specific person of being racist.

I think people are easily influenced by crowd mentalities and peer pressure.

If you get enough people saying something, it gets accepted as the truth. I see a lot of FEAR when Cam is brought up. Most of which is unfounded based on my objective observations of Newton's play.

Again, show me one post, where I said to someone here "You're a racist for not liking Cam".

All I've said is that I've SEEN racism on this board towards him, on a couple occasions, and if I were in KT's shoes, I would be defensive too.

Not only are you completely wrong about what I think about what is said about Cam, but I think you're completely wrong on him as an athlete and a potential fix for our broken ass team.

Nothing against you personally Mr. Scot, as I've said before, you're usually on the money.... but this time, I think you're stepped in football dogma, and are following the trend of the herd. That doesn't make you a racist, but it does leave you open to influence by racist people.

From this thread: http://www.carolinahuddle.com/forum/smack-central/53973-you-know-what-fug-it-kt-is-right.html

fuging in-bred racists infest our fan-base.

It's not just a small percentage. There is page after page of morons giving every stupid reason in the book not to draft him, when the truth is, it's racial.

In that thread, you painted a whole lot of people broad-brush because of one comment from one guy, and you didn't even link it or quote it. The only comment you did link said nothing about him being black.

You talk about people on here being influenced by peer pressure after you posted a thread saying "KT is right"? Talk about ironic. And given that there are plenty of Newton supporters on here both white and black, how exactly is it "peer pressure"?

And again, you refer to your "objective observations" then turn around and talk like you're the only one who's capable of "objective observations". So what's the test? If someone else's observations disagree with yours they must not be objective? You don't think two objective people can disagree? Good grief, man. Get over yourself :nonod:

On the one hand, you say you don't automatically assume people are racist because they don't like Newton, but then you turn around and suggest that my dislike of him is because I'm being "influenced by racists". Who are those racists? And how do you know they're racist other than the fact that they don't want Newton?

For that matter, answer this simple question. What quarterback do I want in this draft?

I've been a football fan for nearly forty years now. I've probably seen more QBs come out of college than most of the people on here. Some I thought would succeed didn't (Eric Crouch, Pat White) and others I thought wouldn't succeed did (Aaron Rodgers being the chief example). I've got a decent record overall, and my opinions are my own, but I don't for one minute think my opinion is the standard by which everyone else's "objectivity" is measured. I'm not that much of a narcissist, and you shouldn't be either.

Truth is, you don't know squat about most of the people on here, so the racism charges come off as pretty silly.

If you want to make an accusation like that, here's a simple test. PROVE IT! Show where they actually said something racist rather than just throwing around the accusations.

If you can't actually produce or refer to a racist statement, then keep the accusations to yourself, because all you're doing in implying racist motives to people without any evidence to show it is dragging the whole discussion into the gutter. We've already got somebody for that in KT. He doesn't need an accomplice :frown2:

I want McNabb, I would have taken Vick knowing what I know now and I don't want Cam Newton with the # 1 overall pick (or any other QB in this draft class with that pick) so I guess I'm a racist?

McNabb sucks outside of that Philly system, regardless of his skin color.:D

KT, in Mr Scot's defense I have never seen him mention anything to do with race in any of his assessments. Most websites don't have Newton as the #1 QB much less the #1 overall pick across all positions. It should not be a shock that huddle members don't want him at #1. I think you would find many wanting him if we trade down to the mid first.

Appreciated.

In my opinion the constant baseless accusations on here dilute the race issue and makes the rest of us want to ignore all issues even when they may have validity, just because we are tired of hearing it.

Similar to what I've said above.

So.... umm... how does this show I accused a specific person of being racist?

Because the "trend" right now in the media is to be down on Newton.

LOL... wow... see... here's the thing...

With that kind of self-imposed resume... "arguing" a point with you is a waste of time.

Done.

I've seen at LEAST three other posts with similar attitudes on Cam. I've see a whole lot more subtle attacks on him that wasn't directly racist, but had overtones.

Now... if you want to sit there and pretend racism doesn't exist, even on this board. Be my guest. Just don't try and make it out like there isn't any.

Vagrant is the only person I've seen post anything serious about Cam Newton related to race. Just like I don't take KT to represent all posters who want Cam Newton here, I wouldn't take Vagrant to represent all those who don't. As a note, people weren't exactly happy with what he posted, either. =P

Instead of dismissing the fanbase based on the post of a VERY small group of posters that clearly state they care about skin color, why not address the arguments others make and/or just agree to disagree with them when you can't find common ground? Why must it come down to "Well it's because this fanbase is somehow racist, that's why"... I dun get it.

So there's some random dude that thinks race plays a factor in QBs. Great. How does that mean the majority of us do??

Hell KT lumps all black quarterbacks together so he clearly cares about skin color too, but I don't see you posting in threads he posts in going "That's it, this fanbase is racist!" because of it.

Congrats. You have one example.

And actually, if you would have posted that thread in context, you'd have seen a whole lot of people - me included - arguing against him and no one backing him up.

So tell me how that bolsters the nation that there's a whole lot of peer pressure on here to be racist. What you've shown is actually just the opposite.

(and don't give me "overtones" because you can read anything into a statement that you want to; that proves nothing)

I'll say again, if you can't actually refer to a racist statement, don't go throwing out racist accusations because all you're doing is dragging the whole discussion down.

I'd like to think you're better than that based on what I saw of you before you went on this tear, but if you want to hold on to this notion, I'll be disappointed.

Mr. Scot wanted proof. I gave it.

I've seen other posts too.... but I remembered this one distinctly because it was a response to a thread I started.

I honestly view comparisons of Cam to Jamarcus Russell in the same way. They are completely different players, with different college careers. Comparing them is inherently racist imho.

First off, I didn't start the "racist" discussion. I don't understand why you are accusing me of doing so. I simply added some commentary to Jangler's satire.

Now... if you want to pretend that this "ONE" example is just an aberration, and that people who visit this board can't possibly be racist, you go right ahead and live in that fantasy land.

Honestly ONE example is one too many imho.

how the hell... so what exactly does that make the comparisons between Gabbert and Russell or just about any big armed QB and Russell that is white??

it's not racism, it's fans drawing parallels between what they see from Newton now, what people like about him, and what THEY think was Russell's major selling points.
