Trade Steve Smith?

Mr Mojo Risin

My point was that any player trades are more than likely out of the question this offseason. If it were to happen I wouldn't be devistated. I would just hope Smith would re-sign again as he retired so he could retire a Panther. Everyone on here at least once wondered what kind of a career Smith would have had if he had a QB like Manning or Brady throwing to him in a pass happy offense.

When we let Moose go to Chicago, it was for big time money. Even though, we needed him, we did the right thing at the time. We did the right thing when Moose came back for fractions of his departing salary, too.

If Steve Smith leaves Carolina, it'll be because the conditions (as a whole) were right. The money matters, his health matters, our other receivers matter, the status of the CBA matters, any draft day trades might matter.

No player is going to be on the team forever.

I wish more people understood this..

Only if he want's to be traded will it happen. Jerry would never just up and trade the best offensive weapon in the history of the franchise for reason's like.., he's old, or at the end of his career, or we have young guy's at WR. Some fan's seem to think the guy is done...have we been watching the same Steve Smith, the one who came back from a broke leg and took home the triple crown for WR. Or how about the broken arm in the Giant's game, Smitty broke 2 tackle's AFTER the broken arm and still scored a TD. If #89 want's to be traded then so be it. But if he chooses to retire a Panther, that would be how i'd prefer it play out. Much luv 4ya #89!! I still remember the first time he touched the ball with the Panther's, returned a kick 93 yard's to the house vs the Vikings, I'am still in awe...

I think Hurney, the guy in charge of personnel, will trade Smitty if $ is right.

I love Smitty but it might be a smart move to trade him - Smitty has lost a half step and fails to get 'separation' like he used to ... and he dropped at last 8 passes that were in his hands [for badly needed 1st downs when it meant something ] this past season.

Stay or be gone, either way - I will still love Smitty ;)

Every thread that has trading Smith wants to do it so he can get a ring. It has been said in every other tread, might as well add it to this one. WE HAVE NO IDEA WHO WILL BE A CONTENDER NEXT SEASON!!!!!!!!!!!! We could trade Smith to the Patriots, Brady could get hurt next season and they could go 7-9. So all this "trade Smith so he can get a ring" is pointless.

usually you can tell which teams are going to be contenders every year there usually is a couple that do good that no one would expect but usually you can tell the good teams from the bad. Even when brady got hurt in 08 the pats still went 11-5 and just missed the playoffs. i would really like to see him have a chance at playing with a top qb before he goes and as much as id like to remain optimistic about the panthers i just dont see us making the playoffs for another season or two until we can get a qb

We only trade Smith if he truly wants to be traded. I think he deserves that much.

If he wants to stay, then good.

I agree. We should try to sign him he he wants to stay.I think the decision will be his.I have not seen one other Panther that wanted more than he did.
