Third Place Game

I'm surprised the NFL doesn't have a third place game a week before the Superbowl. It would be sure to generate money and it's an interesting consolation prize to not making the Superbowl. Who would want to see the Bears vs. Jets in the third place game?

this. It's a good idea, but players wouldn't go for it and no one would really care after about half a year

They used to have it, it was called The Playoff Bowl. They did away with it in early 70s.

They also used to have a third place game in the NCAA Final Four. Think they did away with it around 1980.

I'd like the idea, but these days it'd conflict with the Pro Bowl.

Nothing is worse than MLBs all star game. The pro bowl is more for the players and the drill competitions are fun to watch. the game is boring as poo.

I actually enjoy watching the Pro Bowl game, how the best on the teams come together as one team and really enjoying being around each other. I do agree that the game could be more competitive though.

As far as a third place game, I think after loosing out for the big game their competitive spirits are broken, nothing left to compete for.
