Dukes and Woodson say trade down

On NFLN they were talking Sr Bowl and our first overall pick. They state the obvious, we have several needs and need more picks. They also state the obvious, there are no QB's worth #1.

Yeah I know same old same old, but it was someone new saying it.

I have to agree that you guys should trade down or maybe completely out of the first and get more players as you have a lot of needs on both sides of the ball. JMO.

On the bustin loose with Frank and Moose show they had a debate on either sighning a vet or drafting a qb this year.Moose wanted us to draft Cam Newton and Frank was in favor of a FA.To me all these opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and they all stink.

Not an easy decision.

I dont see any team with the top 8 picks trading their first and second rounder to move up a few spots unless some player established themselves upon the pedestal of greatness through the combine and workouts. With that said our best chance of trading down would be to a team within the 8-15 range, which I was say DO IT!

I think some teams will be looking to move up but will be into the 4-8 range to pick up somebody who has slid a bit that they can get without giving up too much. That's the problem when the top 3-4 guys are pretty even. I certainly wouldn't give up anything more for the 1st pick than I would for the 4th pick in this draft because, odds are, I'm going to get just as good a player at 4 and I would at 1 and I will get to pay them a great deal less.

We are bascially screwed as far as trading down is concerned. The only way I think we have a shot at moving the pick is if a team at the bottom of the 1st round lowballs us with a 1st round pick swap and throws in a 3rd or 4th. I would hope, in that scenario, we don't take the bait. I think the idea that we trade back but stay in the top half of the 1st and pick up a 2nd or more is pretty much a fantasy at this point.

easier said than done.

they are saying literally the exact same thing EVERYONE says about any team with a #1 overall pick, and it is almost never traded.

The reason the #1 pick is never traded is because of money...not because of the player value. If someone wants Fairly or Bowers bad enough I can see a trade happening. We are unlucky in that there are no QBs in this draft for us to take at #1. However, we are lucky in that there are two dominant defensive linemen that scouts think could be future probowlers. The more Fairly gets compared to Suh, the more valuable he becomes. The more valuable he becomes, the more a team wants to trade up for him. Especially when there is a rookie wage scale in place.

McNabb & Orton are the only FA QBs. Neither are worth getting.

No current QB worth trading the #1 pick for. I'm tired of Hurney trading away our picks. He sucks at it.

No QB worth drafting #1. No other team will trade for our #1 pick considering this draft class.

Basically, we are fu(ked. It will be another 10 years before the Panthers have a chance at a franchise QB. In which time, we will continue to be mediocre. Hit the playoffs a few times at best.

Oh, and please people, no more threads regarding ANYTHING Jamie Dukes says. He's a complete idiot.
