not sure how to take that...let me explain...

we have the same issue with Canadian natives that even many of their own people argue. They have all sorts of treaty rights and the government pays them a very large sum on a monthly basis because apparently the white man took away their land all those years ago. The unemployment rate on those reserves is through the roof...you can sit on your ass and do nothing and collect your monthly check, or you can get a job and make an honest living and be a part of society etc. Where is the incentive to work or do anything if you can just sit around and get paid to do nothing at all?

Are you drilling and profitting on their land? yes or no?

All handouts in general.

Some people truly need it and don't get it while others abuse it.

My father is currently unemployed and has been constantly over the last 4 years. Tries and tries but ends up getting laid off. Even moved out of state to take a job and left the rest of my family behind (I'm grown now and don't live there but I have younger siblings). He didn't want to take unemployment.

On the other hand, my old HS buddy got out of the Navy and instantly went on unemployment because "he makes more from that than he could working." He feels he deserves it for being in the Navy.

Not comparing unemployment to other forms of handouts because it's not but they all get abused.

so all handouts except unemployment because that one's different even though it still gets abused?

i understand the gut reaction to people manipulating the system but the reality is that it helps far more people live and bring themselves up than it does those who manipulate it.

does it have problems? yes. does it need reform? yes. but it's so silly to see people in here, most of whom probably barely pay taxes dogpile on a group of people who already pretty much have the pootiest existences allowable in the 1st world. Because they are getting $300 a month from the government?

jesus, i got better things to worry about and as a society, we have MUCH bigger problems.

their land? do you mean the land that government gave them because they felt sorry for them losing the battle for it?

I would imagine that there is drilling on their land, sure...but that is rewarded by the oil company just the same as if they were drilling in your back yard or mine.

I think that is what everyone is getting at. That it just needs a little reform because those who truly need it get overshadowed by those who abuse it.

Just got my W2. Was shocked how much I paid :(

come on up to Canada and have a look at mine!!!! Sure, we have medicaire and all that good stuff...but guess who pays for it? Those of us with a job!! Canada and USA aren't so different when it comes to many of these issues.

I'm probably going to go to Canadia sometime in the winter. We decided against it for the honeymoon but still think it'd be a cool trip.

    • My projection. I think at WR its time to go with youth. This means Moore should be the odd man out. Horn can return both punts and kicks and Tremayne is a better WR than Moore. XL gets one more year to prove himself, although I could see a trade in the future which would mean Moore could stay. For OL, I would like us to bring back Brady if we can. The RBs, Trevor can return both punts and kicks too. With the uncertainty of Brooks and Dillon, its hard to choose either one. I think the team would like for Brooks to have a breakout season to clear any uncertainty that he deserves a spot. For now, I have them both even and on the team. DL looks solid as well as OLB. Watch out for the UDFA of Aaron Hall and Isaiah Smith at OLB. They look promising and could knock someone off the team. ILB is still the biggest weakness on the team. We need to upgrade that any means necessary. CB is strong and Im praying to all the Gods that Wheatley beats out Scott at FS.  OFFENSE: WR: Tetairoa McMillan - *Chris Brazzell II* - Brycen Tremayne TE: Tommy Tremble - James Mitchell LT: #Rasheed Walker# - *Monroe Freeling* LG: Damien Lewis C- #Luke Fortner# - *Sam Hecht* RG: Robert Hunt - #Saahdiq Charles# RT: Taylor Moton - #Stone Forsythe# TE: Ja`Tavion Sanders - Mitchell Evans WR: Xavier Legette - Jalen Coker - Jimmy Horn Jr. QB: Bryce Young - #Kenny Pickett# RB: Chuba Hubbard - Trevor Etienne - #AJ Dillon# - Jonathon Brooks DEFENSE: LE: Tershawn Wharton - Bobby Brown III  NT: *Lee Hunter* - Cam Jackson RE: Derrick Brown - LaBryan Ray LOLB: Nic Scourton - Patrick Jones II  LILB: Trevin Wallace - Bam Martin-Scott - *Jackson Kuwatch* RILB: #Devin Lloyd# - Claudin Cherrelus  ROLB: #Jaelen Phillips# - Princely Umanmielen LCB: Jaycee Horn - Akayleb Evans RCB: Mike Jackson - *Will Lee III* - Chau Smith-Wade SS: Tre`von Moehrig - Lathan Ransom FS:  Nick Scott - *Zakee Wheatley* - Demani Richardson  SPECIAL TEAMS: K/KO: Ryan Fitzgerald P/H: Sam Martin KR: Trevor Etienne - Jimmy Horn Jr. PR: Trevor Etienne - Jimmy Horn Jr. LS: J.J. • His contract is guaranteed.  Legette is just not where he needs to be mentally.  Not fully invested, it seems.
    • Literally like Hill. He's not QB1 material (now or ever), but if we can turn him into a H-back and use him like  Swiss army knife, that's his ticket to make the roster.  H-back/emergency QB.  I wonder how good his hands are?  If they are at least above average by NFL standards then we can line him up in the backfield, in the slot, split out wide and of course, in the Wildcat.
