I just think that fans don't realize these guys are businessmen first and foremost sometimes. DeAngelo will never again have a chance likely to make the kind of money he has the potential to do here shortly.......plus, he has been pretty vocal that the best thing about him playing has been Skipper. We are about to start a new era and still have no QB. DeAngleo's window as a legit RB will soon be rapidly closing. He may find the best $ isn't here nor is his chance to win while still in his prime.

He's not that much better than Stewart no matter what people who own his jersey will tell you, he gets hurt a lot, and RBs are disposable and the easiest position to replace in football. If he leaves, we already have a starter who's a 1000 yard rusher and will just need to find a backup that won't fumble, which really isn't hard and won't take a high draft pick. People need to quit crying over the possibility of Williams not here. Johnson and Kalil are much more important to this team. Yeah, Hurney should have traded him but too late now.

I got no problem w/ Williams leaving. I do have a problem w/ him walking and Carolina getting nothing. If he does, then Richardson/Hurney need to be BLASTED for what is occuring with our top tier talent. They are wanting out.....and some are getting out w/ nothing in return.

oh and I've mentioned this in several threads, but despite DWill being 27 and in his 5th season, he has LESS carries than Chris Johnson and Adrian Peterson. In fact, he only has about 30 carries MORE than Matt Forte, who is 25 and in his 3rd season.

plenty of mileage left. and I don't think they would have placed him on IR so early if they didn't have plans to either trade him or resign him.

I would hate to see deangelo go. But from a business perspective I'd at least try to sign him...and think about trading him or goodson later. Who knows, goodson could cure his fumblitis and become just as explosive as deangelo, then we would have the option to get compensation for both. but then again..what the ef do i know. fwiw

we will not franchise kalil for 2 reasons:

1- there might not be a franchise tag in the next CBA

2- Franchising a center is a horrible idea because he would make top 5 o-lineman money, not top 5 center money. think the average of jake long, jordan gross, etc. and that's the money we would be on the hook for with kalil.

Williams had more miles on him from college than probably any RB that has entered the NFL after him.
