Dolphins targeting DWill

It's going to cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $8.5 - $9 million to franchise him for one season. Nobody is sending a high draft pick for him with that contract.

The franchise tag would only be a one year tag. Teams WOULD trade for him and work out a long-term deal.

Please try and keep up.

So our team philosophy is to build through the draft, and allow some of our best players to leave if they justifiably want a big contract. That might work if we had a franchise QB, one of the best scouting departments in the NFL, and one of the best coaching staffs. Since we're hell bent on building nearly our enitre team from the draft, we need a lot of picks every year. Losing Peppers without compensation made me ill. We need a draft pick for Williams, and no more trading future picks for players who might not start for 2 seasons. This franchise needs new leadership.

and we have that.. JR has refocused his philosophy and I think after this season it'll be general consensus that Rivera is a very good coach..

also, I think too many people are still feeling the pain of the Peppers situation and him walking without any compensation... that doesn't mean we need to carry that over to a position we have other options set already...

I hope like hell in the future, we trade these players before they walk.. it's not a hard concept.. and we don't have to make it well known to the media before it happens...

I forget who said this, I think Hurney, who said we get calls all the time for our players..

This Sh*t doesnt make sense... I see all this talk about see ya later, bye and things like that... It would be a huge mistake to trade or whatever DWill... Big mistake!

Show some loyalty... He said he wanted to stay

I bet he blows it up next year with us or somewhere else... 1000+ yards

FREE AGENTS CAN'T BE TRADED!!!

FREE AGENTS CAN'T BE TRADED!!!

FREE AGENTS CAN'T BE TRADED!!!

FREE AGENTS CAN'T BE TRADED!!!

THERE ISN'T A SINGLE TEAM IN THE NFL THAT IS GOING TO GIVE UP COMPENSATION FOR A FRANCHISED 28 YEAR OLD RB THAT HASN'T FINISHED A SEASON IN 2 YEARS.

The stupidity is deep around here.

He's worth a fair contract. Not a big one.

I'd love to see him stay, but if he doesn't, we move on. That is the way in the NFL.

This isn't madden.

he wants to stay if we pay him.....bottom line is Carolina would be dumb to pay him what some other teams w/ a weak backfield would be willing. We saw what a healthy Stewart/Goodson could do (and that was w/ no passing attack and questionable OL play). When healthy, they were a top attack in the NFL. RBs are easy to find and plug in.....that money would be better suited in helping the pass attack.

I don't understand how ANY of you could think letting DeAngelo Williams leave is a positive thing! It's crazy talk to me. Let J-Stew go...if anybody. If it is a $ issue, DeAngelo is the better back, and we'd be giving Miami a FRANCHISE RB for what? A 2nd round pick? GTFO.

Let Stewart go over DWill....dumb idea.

How is dumping big bucks into a 28 yr RB a good thing when you can have a top tier ground attack w/ Stewart/Goodson??

Why not use that $ on a FA TE, RG, DT or even DE etc. to make the overall team better?

For all future references, when discussing RBs, do NOT consider Number28's opinion if you are looking for impartiality.

haha...not sure how i missed this.

the funny thing is, a lot of what i've recently said concerning williams is right along the same lines as what's being said by others in this very thread.

i guess as long as i don't say it, it's cool.

Dumb idea to think it is that easy when DWill is a free agent and Stewart under contract. Would involve signing or franchising DWill (if franchise tag is available) then trading Stewart. Neither of which can happen before a new CBA.
