Hurney: QB is Carolina Panthers' 'No. 1 need'

kind of biased against Clausen to consider Matt Moore's stats playing in a better environment of an offense (2007, 2009) against Clausen only playing in this offense

maybe the sample size would be bigger if Moore wasn't made out of candy glass. He got hurt twice in i guess what you would call limited action while Jimmy stood up to a lot more punishment

When you stand in the pocket like a man to make the necessary throws downfield there is an increased risk of injury.

How was I wrong?

Moore went 2-1 as a starter for the Panthers last season as an undrafted rookie. But he struggled in the preseason, not leading the Panthers to a touchdown, and was expected to drop to third-string behind McCown.

Your right the story kind of goes back and fourth.

He was expected to drop to third-string because he wasn't practicing yet wasn't going on IR.

He can't drop behind someone for performance or lack of playbook knowledge when that other someone isn't on the roster at the time.

Give it up

wasn't the "Moore doesn't know the playbook" from his rookie year? I thought in '09 it was said to be not true by other players after Morgan tried to reiterate it.

Yet another example of a player talking when they shouldn't. Today Cromartie got ripped by Ray Lewis and some other players for what he said. MJD is back pedaling on what he said.

When will they learn ?

well, tbh, sometimes players have insight into what is going on with a team. however there are certain things I agree they should keep their mouth shut about.

I'm also not sure why it matters what part of the depth chart Moore was on at the start of '08. It won't tell us if he's going to end up on the roster. There is a good chance the Panthers will take a look at him, because he could be a very cheap backup option.

No the way it was wrote made it sound like they already were getting McCown Because Matt was struggling. Then matt hurt his leg.

When they talk about their own team it's fine but Morgan wasn't on the team when he said what he said about Moore and MJD isn't on the team with Cutler and Cromartie is just a moron. It's fine if they talk about their own team because they have to face them everyday and can answer up to what they said.

I can't find a single news source that indicates the Panthers were anything other than "interested in McCown" before Moore's injury... Everything seems to indicate it only happened because of the injury.

Then why say anything about him having a hard time moving the team in preseason?

Expected is present tense. Like it was going 2 happen.
