Not gonna lie, the WR position would be nice for us if we drafted Green. Smitty, Lafell, Gettis, and AJ Green? Add to that a serviceable vet QB and Chud calling plays? ayooo I've got a hard on thinking about it(ok not really, but still).

I think my choice of who I want to us to take 1 overall changes by the hour. Lol

They have promise but I just don't see either one of them as being the type of guy Smith was or a guy like Green can be. One that demands double coverage and defenses fears.

I hope they prove me wrong. I won't deny both of them have potential, and unlike some other guys with potential on our teams, these guys actually showed glimpses of that on the field this past year.

A lot of what I did not like about them were typical rookie mistakes. LaFell drops too many passes but I'm guessing this is something that will improve with experience as they begin to mature and remember to catch before running. And let's be honest Smith himself was guilty of making this rookie mistake at least on a couple of occasions this past year.

But a top 5 NFL receiver like Smith even in their prime? I just don't know if either one has that in them. They're missing that extra little fire you typically see in those guys. I see more them like your Moose -type receiver though. Either one could become that permanent #2. A quiet, solid and dependable worker. Nothing wrong with that, but sooner or later, and sooner rather than later, we will need to find someone to fill Smith's shoes.

I came to like both of these guys the more I watched. Love the size and speed both bring to the table and if AE pans out to be the shifty slot receiver he was drafted for this has potential to be a deadly receiving core. Throw in a do it all TE (may be on our roster already) and if our QB still can't get it done then at least we know his WR core isn't the issue.

yeah, we have 2 really promising young receivers.. Smitty won't be around forever, we really need to draft Green, or at least bring in someone like Holmes..

you do know that smith didn't look like a top 5 receiver his first couple of years? either way i think we are trying to get away from that one guy that scares everybody thing, i think we want multiple threats on the field as much as possible. the coryell/norv style offense uses guys who can get open deep along with wr, te or rb who can work the underneath stuff.

fact remains you need more than 2 receivers, and Smitty isn't a deep threat like he used to be..

no one can point to us not needing another receiver.. the best option is Green,but FA will do, unless there is a steal later in the draft... but right now we have 3 #2 receivers.. If we had Drew Brees, that might be ok.

look at the packers& steelers for that matter, neither one has THE GUY you just feel you have to account for EVERYGAME. both have multiple guys who make plays in the passing game.

These two make me think that Armanti might actually end up being good. Hurney did a good job on these 2. They may never end up being Smith caliber players but with the right QB they will have more than enough of what it takes to open the offense.

lots of you saying clausen looked decent in the vid...while making this vid, i found 2 clips of clausen in the bears game...one where lafell was open 40 yards down feild in the endzone, and clausen lobbed it AND underthrew it, and the defense was able to run up to it and bat it down. then the next series, clausen threw a pass to lafell right in the dirt..we are obviously going to get a qb this year, but right now IMO the qb with the best chance of winning with would have to be Matt Moore.

Gettis is a vertical threat, I'd rather see Smith in the slot if we don't get Green, which I really don't think we will.
