I'm done with Wal-mart meat....

Lowes foods has the highest quality meat and produce imo, at least as far as Grocery store chains.

I agree with that although the teeter in my hood does have an extensive deli and meat section.

Also, walmarts meats definitely suck and you have to watch their prices on ordinary things like milk. I saw a gallon of milk there at twice the price of milk at lowes/h. teeter. I think people assume they are cheaper but if you don't look at the prices they will rape you.

Costco for meat you fools

Costco for just about everything! They have good seafood, best wine prices anywhere. The only problem is, you have to like to buy most everything in bulk. Their pastries come like 24 to a tray. They have 2 sizes of most everything. Super Large and Mega Large! But where can you get a 1/2 gallon of pistachios for $10!

yup!

or...as Panthro would say....

make your own

I don't have a food processor or meat grinder so that's somewhat out of the question. I could chop it up really fine but that's a lot of effort and it may not turn out right.

I have a few butchers that aren't too far away. 50/50 short rib and sirloin for burgers in the summer from now on.

Hard to beat Haris Teeter's meat!

Back in the 80's there used to be a grocery on Eastway past Garinger High, It had actuall butchers that would cut to order, now it's a pawn shop, I think. Teeter has the same thing now.

I'll shop Food Lion for everything BUT meat, seafood and veggies. For those I go to Teeter. I just shopped Lowes for the first time this week. Looks pretty good place.

all of walmarts meat is tampered with, enhanced with a "solution", frozen and shipped from the distribution centers. freezing kills the texture of meat so no suprise their meat is junk, and loaded with chemicals to keep it looking fresh and appealing. local groceries or meat markets are def the way to go.

buy a loaf of "fresh baked" bread from wally world and buy one from your local grocery, put them in the bread box and wait a week or two. the local bread will have molded and gone stale, the wally world bread will still be "good"(if it ever was). they load their stuff with preservatives and crap because it has to survive the warehouses and shelves.

oh, and screw walmart.
