With the depth of this draft at DT and the emergence of hardy...I could see the panthers taking PP7 number 1.

That's the truth. When Tampa WR's and Pittsburgh WR's ran right down the middle of our defense, it was so clear just how far we are behind on speed in the secondary.

i think it was clear that we also had a good amount of injuries on defense too.

Godfrey and Martin both have CB skills one was a CB in college the other was scouted as a CB in the NFL. Gamble still has it. Munnerlynn wasn't scouted as fast but he hasn't looked all that slow.

I don't think we're missing speed I think we're missing an interior presence more than anything. Nobody to keep the QB from stepping up and nobody to stop inside rushes. If you force the offense to beat us with speed then it might be obvious how speedy the D actually is.

All played in week 2 against Tampa Bay. I still remember Mike Williams taking a slant and heading up field. He split both the safeties and they didn't even touch him. Against Pittsburgh, Gamble was out but Heath Miller killed us right up the middle. Yes, normally its a linebacker assignment, but Emmanuel Sanders made Captain look silly a few times as well. Emmanuel isn't exactly a world beater either.

Gamble isn't the same CB he used to be. we have never truly had a cover corner before. Not saying PP is a lock at being the next revis but We need a clear cut #1 Corner. there are a lot more options at DT in FA then at CB. Just my Opinion.

I'll wait and see what Fairley will do in the combine before I get on the PP bandwagon. If it weren't for the CBA, the Panthers probably would have went after Nnamdi. If Fairley proves worthy of the pick, we need to go after Nnamdi.

PP7 wants to be the top pick. He's a high energy but mature guy. Chances are Marshall won't be back. There's just too much talent in the NFC South at receiver to think CB isn't worth a #1 pick. We don't need a Fairley. We need push, but I believe in the Rivera system to get it done with a lesser player. CB is one of those few positions where because of the rule changes it's REALLY hard to find a Corner that has the speed, the instincts, the timing, the loose hips, the ball skills, the size, the discipline and the maturity to play at a high level in the NFL. Patrick Peterson has all of those.

We need a guy who can stay step for step with the Saints, Bucs, and Falcons receivers.. because seriously.. we've been getting burnt.

Plus.. He's pretty electrifying.
