Let's trade Moton

This time of the year, people without real football get trade fever. It's a real disease, a scourge on the sport, and it drives fans into frenzied states of conjecture and jackassery. Draft trades, player trades, coach trades and maybe even a mascot or two.

Can't wait for the draft so that some of these trade scenarios will just be dust in the wind, not to return until next February or so.

I am weary of trade talk. So weary.

What happens this year isn't relevant.  All we want is to see improvement this year and verify that what we saw at the end of last season from Bryce is what we really have.  Our best opportunity for that is for Moton to remain on the team.  If we come out of the season with a clear picture of what Bryce really will be, and 6-8 wins, that's a great season.

Next offseason, we can find out if he really wants to be here his entire career or not.  If he really does, he can take a friendly deal to help us groom a replacement.  If not, we thank him for being one of the best OL we've ever had and move on.

Moton is 11% of our cap... I think we can find a suitable replacement for much less.

he's also 20% of our OL.

OL is not plug and play. you pay to keep continuity in your OL when you have a core that does the job well as a unit.

it's worth the price tag.

and a team with a lot of holes doesn't need to be creating a GIANT hole on the OL unnecessarily.

there's more to life than saving money. sometimes taking extreme measures to save money makes your situation much worse and the "benefit" comes nowhere near being worth it. causes much more harm than good that will set you back years trying to fix the actual damage done by your "cost saving" measures.
