Yeah--but I get the idea or thought and it is a fair discussion to have--but Moton is solid--he is not irreplaceable--no pro bowls or anything--just solid and a great locker room guy.  I want to keep him--chemistry on the OL is important.    The issue with Moton:

"Taylor Moton, Carolina Panthers' right tackle, suffered a knee injury that led to him being listed as doubtful for the Week 17 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to Yahoo Sports. The injury prevented him from participating in practice throughout the week. According to Sports Illustrated, Moton was also listed as inactive for the game. Joe Person from The Athletic, reported that there were concerns about the health of Moton's knees, potentially impacting his future with the team."  (Interesting that Person mentioned "knees"--plural--and not a specific reference to the knee he injured.  That suggests that Moton's knees are deteriorating, a problem some linemen have--so if the OP had included this in his original point, it might have solicited more favorable reactions.  This is an issue we have to address in some way--and maybe signing BC was that)

Since then, Person has stated that his opinion was that the Panthers would not extend Moton to get cap space, taking a "wait and see" approach to determining his future with the team.

It'd mean we sold low on an asset and ate a cost that doesn't offset losing the asset. This team has paid other teams to take its stars off their hands enough.

If we think the BPA is an OT and there's no compelling offers to trade down I'm open to it.

You gotta remember Moron is going into the last year of his contract and you're either going to have to back up the Brinks truck to pay a guy on the wrong side of 30 or you're going to have to let him walk for a comp pick... or you trade him.

I may be in the minority, but I'm not convinced that we have no chance of making the playoffs this season. We're not making a Super Bowl in 2025. We can all agree on that. But then again, only 2 teams make it there each season.

We only need to win our division to make the playoffs. The NFC South is not the AFC West, the NFC East, or the NFC North. I doubt we'll see 2 teams from the South make the playoffs. If we are able to field a middle of the road defense in 2025...and Bryce continues to show improvement like he did at the end of the year... I think we have just as much of a chance of winning the division as Atlanta, New Orleans, or Tampa Bay. None of the former teams are juggernauts or considered to be a threat to win the NFC this season.

I would rather simply have a good team and get into the playoffs rather then making it because we are in a poo division

I dont think you will need a brinks truck but if he wants to stay I suspect a team friendly deal should be in play.  31/2 is an absolutely high number for a lineman.  The avg age is 26 so he would be quickly be moving into the "old" category and with the amount of time off of practices last year something tells me his body has gone through it

'We are great' turns into 'ohh poop' real fast in the NFL. Moton has a 1 year contract and they just spent big on 2 OGs and a LT coming up on his big payday. He shouldn't be here next year given all of that. It's already the highest paid Oline. Teams need rookie contracts. How healthy is he anyways has to be added into thst mix too.

All the home grown moaning is just a thing because they have been terrible at drafting and the stupid trade up to #1 IMO. Moore is the only one we are really missing. The OTs look better than the TEs and WRs. The entire buffet of D options is in that 'maybe but' category where need gives them more value.

I just love getting under everyones feathers. Also, if we aren't going to extend him, and I dont see a reason too, why would we be prolonging the inevitable. If we pick at #8, the chances of this guy being BPA is very high. Nobody can agree on who should be picked at #8, we have made that obvious from the 47000 different posts about what we do with the 8th pick. I am just here to give my opinion, which I think makes sense. We act like Moton can't be replaced. This is different than trading Moore, or McCaffrey, they were young. This guy is coming off a knee injury at 31 years of age. and I'm just suggesting we draft a guy who can come in and start at RT, and could possibly switch with Ekwonu in year 2. Or who knows, the guy can probably play LT this year and we can go ahead and make Ekwonu move to RT. Instead of picking BPA I guess we all are good just picking Walker or Mykel ot Mcmillan, or a Safety at #8?  I'm not... If we can't trade back, which I think is the best option unless somehow Carter, Hunter, or Graham are available, then why would I not consider the most athletic OT in the draft instead of reaching? The people on this board are so divided on who to pick, and the minute someone comes up with a hypothetical, they spill their coffee. I LOVE IT!.

My point was simply, we do not know the extent of his knees.  If they are shot, as Joe Person referenced after the season (referring to the reason he missed week 17) I am not seeing that as an asset or selling low--it is complicated, I know.  But if you consider what we actually know, you are absolutely right.

Players don't take team friendly deals to stay in dumpster fire organizations. At 31 this will be his last shot to get one last payday and possibly his last shot to try to compete for a ring of that's what he wants. He generally fits the description of a guy who would demand a trade more than he fits the description of a guy open to take a team friendly deal with his current team.

Me: "Wow, it's so nice that we have a top 10 offensive line and some continuity. It made the offense watchable for the first time in years."

Huddle: "Let's blow up our offensive line!"

Top 10? That is laughable... we may have slid into the top 20 in some rankings. Top 10 overall? Put the pipe down.

You rarely post, and this topic should not ignite sarcasm or taunting comments.  Some posters (and they know who they are because I call them out--so they double down) make everything about the poster and not the post.  They can click out of the thread and be done with it since their comments offer nothing to the facts of the conversation--but they feel compelled to do some cyber chest pounding.  Probably not breast fed and sporting small penises.  Mr. Scot made a good point about getting rid of a talent too soon over too late.  Here we have to determine when too late is going to be.  We need to keep developing Young so even if we aren't in the playoffs this year, we need his progression to continue and not have a setback.  A lot of people would have conditionally agreed if we did not have so many more pressing needs--so I get it.  Just ignore those scholars who troll here--they have blow holes on the tops of their heads and their necks get long and stiff when they watch porn---they have nothing to offer.
