Panthers begin background work on Fairley

I'm stuck between Green and Fairley, Dareus wouldn't bother me a bit if we did have an opportunity to move down a few spots.

LaFell and Gettis vs. Hayden and Landri--which situation would be the most benefited by the drafting of Green or Fairley?

Since we only can draft one of those two, I don't think Green could provide the biggest upgrade to the team.

No I get that, but our D was decent while O was a cruel joke.

Plus, Green is the best WR in years, Fairley is 2nd maybe 3rd best in the last year.

Green also gives you flexibility with Smith.

I actually like Landri, have zero use for Hayden. Fairley would be a monster upgrade, but Green is like the red rider BB gun in A Christmas Story.

-Charactrer/background doesn't check out well

-Bad combine workout and/or interview

-Some sort of injury between now and the draft

Outside of those 3 scenarios, Fairley's already a Panther.

I agree that he is a likely choice at #1 overall, but don't you think that is a little bold to be assuming he is the sure thing at this point? It wouldn't suprise me if they are doing background checks on the potential top 5-10 picks. A lot more can happen between now and the draft than just your 3 scenarios.

I think he could tail off as a legitimate prospect as the offseason goes on. If we're looking for smart, versatile players for a versatile defense, Fairley certainly doesnt fit that mold. We dont want him pulling a Haynesworth and crying because the defense is too difficult for him to learn. With Rivera and Mcdermott running things, I don't really see Fairley being able to fit into their complex schemes. I dont really know how great of an interview he'll be with that speech impediment he has either..

Fairley scares the shiz out of me. His talent can't be questioned, but is he mature enough to want to be the best? Or his he a fat lazy asshole who relies soley on his talent, cuz that won't equate to success in the NFL. I have no factual evidence to suggest that he is indeed like JaMarcus, but oh wee mayne, is he dat deal?

His maturity on twitter, for what very little that's worth, has impressed me. Far and away better than LaFell.

Haha we should replace to wonderlic with twitter posts. Haha. But shoot, I'm just super concerned that he'll rest on his laurels and bust his way out of the league. I'm positive the panthers will put very due diligence into this decision though and if there are any concerns he won't be dawning are new super cool all black uniforms.
