Rewatching BSG

I liked the ending (it was decent anyway). I think that the writer's strike gave them too much time & they over thought it.

Having said that...

When Adama jumps the Galactica into the atmosphere... Wow! It's the only time outside of sports that I literally jumped out of my seat & cheered.

I didn't think about the writers strike. The assault on New Caprica was such an awesome scene. I had to laugh at fatass Lee Adama though.

I just finished watching the series.

Holy poo what an awesome show. I think it ended perfectly and was very satisfying. The show did focus more and more on the religious and political aspects as the series went on, but you have to admit all of that was central to the plot from the very beginning. There was a great balance between action and 'sappiness' to the very end.

My theory - I think the 'god' and the 'angels' were nothing more than a super advance civilization(a type III civilization, so to say). There are plenty of themes throughout the entire series that point to that and their motives for intervention. The cylons/humans are 'children' of this advanced race and they're 'raising' them(us) to reach our full potential(whatever that may be). MaximusZaximus is right on with "it doesn't like to be called that" being very significant.

That being said there were some parts of the series that seemed clunky. The way they jumped the timeline at the end of season 2 on New Caprica seemed odd. Even more so when they had the Pegasus story at the beginning of season 3(but I also realized that set up the dark, sinister tone for the season). So while there were some odd pacing aspects to the series, the show as a whole fit together very nicely. And anyone who wants to compare BSG to Lost can eat a dick.
