From salty's thread

7 of the 8 top defensive teams in the NFL were still playing last weekend in the divisional round (only the Saints were not)

Only 2 of the top 8 offensive teams in the NFL were still playing last weekend.

Both stats are PPG

Food for thought.

And only the 3-4 defense survives.

Honestly unless you have some serious patience and a degree in philosophy this topic should just end.

A team with a great offense and average defense is just as effective as a team with a average offense and great defense. Especially in these hypothetical situations.

If you look at the Steelers this year they have a great rushing attack and while they don't pass the ball a lot, when they do it's extremely effective. they have the 2nd most 20+ yard plays in the NFL and the 2nd highest average in pass yards per play.

Nah f**k that. We only need bodies out there on offense. You know, like the 08 lions. Just as long as our defense is awesome!

That's weird that it didn't happen this year.

Depending on what average means to you I don't think you could find a case of this. On the other hand, Eagles for example had the #3 offense and number 21 defense (too below average?) and didn't advance in the playoffs. I can't find one team with a great offense and average defense that is as effective as a great defense and average offense. For example, the Steelers, Jets, Ravens and Bears all had great defenses and offenses that ranked 12,13,16,21 and were in the final 8 teams left.

Great defense and average offense is the way to go, sorry. (Packers sit at #10 on offense so just sitting at good)

So what you are saying is that having a very good QB, defense, running game, receiving corps, special teams AND coaching staff will take us to the Super Bowl?

Well why not just do that? Someone call JR!

soooooo with our defensive staff not even filled and countless years of experience on that side of the ball you're still not satisfied with our acquisitions?

what do we do to improve our 32nd ranked offense?
