I agree Salty, but the difference between where the Steelers are at and us is:

There defense is better than ours

Big Ben- as much as I hate the guy as a person, he is a great NFL qb. He makes plays when you need them most

Their wide-reciever core shits on ours

However, If we can develop Clausen or get a franchise qb in a future draft. I see no problem building your team around defense and running the football and asking your qb to make plays later

The Steeler's offensive line is usually pretty bad and Ruthlessbanger has been to 1 Pro Bowl, and is overrated in my opinion. That defense, though, wins them championships.

Also it is easier said than done, I'm sure most teams are striving to build a consistent Defense like the steelers, a very good offensive line and all that to go with a Pro-bowl caliber QB.

3-4 Defense

All 4 teams today ran versions

To emulate the Steelers, you have to start with the OWNER

And ever scout and coach from their down

Steelers are like the PATS

The whole organization is based on Winning

No matter who leaves in F/A or who gets hurt in a game both teams plug the next guy in and the machine keeps running.

Panthers have yet to get past losing a player to injury and still winning

Yes Ben's a Big part but if Ben was QB for Raiders or anywhere else It would be Ben who ?

Exactly, it all starts at the top.

And from top-to-bottom, this franchise is a joke compared to Pittsburgh's. Especially the cheapskate owner.

 cheapskate? what does he need to do? They have gone out to get some of the better coaches available so far. Paid out the ass for Peppers and Delhomme and got nothing in return for it. But now one year of cutting the fat to sign the players we will need to have a team with not much rebuilding and he is a cheapskate. And if the CBA gets resolved I'm sure the money will be spent on FAs. You wanna talk about cheap go talk to the owner of the Bengals...

Obviously his moves now are taking a gigantic step in the right direction. Also, why would he feel the need to rebuild a team now, that was already 1 Good Quarterback away from being a constant playoff contender?

That statement is annoyingly overused here. Teams start rebuilding when they're in the bottom, not when they're on their way up.

This Panther team was not one that had to rebuild. Richardson saw this CBA lockout nonsense coming a mile away and acted accordingly. Him being one of (if not the only) the Owners in the entire league basically putting a season away because of the impending lockout is not some revolutionary move.

If Jerry wanted to "rebuild" he would have done so a looong time ago.

if you know anything about the steelers(lifelong fan until the panthers) they are known for being frugal, they don't overpay coaches or players. they have no problem letting a player along the line of peppers walk cause they develop talent behind them that can be productive.. how many big name free agents can anybody remember them signing from another team?

If we can get the next Ben Roethlisberger then there's nothing wrong with it. But the Steelers wouldn't be much better than a 7-9 team every year without him. With him they are the best team in the league. So find me another QB who can scramble, improvise, and make throws like Roethlisberger and I've got no problem with imitating them.

    • I wouldn't root for any of these big market teams if you paid me. I am thrilled the lowly Hornets embarrassed them in their own city. That's the absolute least they deserve.
