FREE AGENCY RULES

Free agency and player trading will commence on Saturday, January 29th 12:01 PM EST. It officially ends midnight Thursday March 3rd. The draft will begin March 4th.

The top four URFAs from each team will enter the free agent pool. Check here and the FA: Defense thread to see who yours are. All other FAs will stay with their original team and you can treat these players just like anyone else under contract.

Franchise Tag: Each team will be able to franchise one of their free agents. This will cost nothing and won't count toward the cap. The deadline for designating a franchise tag will be Noon EST on Saturday, January 29th. Please post who you wish to franchise tag in the appropriate FA Offense or Defense thread.

Cap Space: At no time can your total outstanding bids be higher than the amount you have to spend! This is up to you and you only to keep track of. If you exceed your spending limit you will be penalized, your total cap space reduced by $10.

Acquiring Players: Players are signed 3 days (exactly 72 hours) from the time of the highest bid.

For example, if your high bid was posted on Sunday 1PM the player will officially be signed and added to your roster Wednesday 1PM so long as nobody outbids you during those 3 days.

If someone outbids you then the 3 day waiting period starts again from the time of their top bid. This 3 day waiting period may be reduced to 1 or 2 days toward the end of the free agency period.

Home Team Advantages: Teams resiging their own free agents will have a couple advantages. First, they can simply match the top offer rather than having to outbid. Second, they will get a discount off the final price after the player is officially signed. The discount will be applied as followed:

Final bid: $3-$6 = $1 discount.

Final bid: $7-$10 = $2 discount.

Final bid: $11-$14 = $3 discount.

Final bid: $15+ = $4 discount.

    • They played some good teams but they also played a lot of pee wee college defenses too.  Warren won't be that open in the NFL.  Although credit where it's due, he did make some contested catches against good coverage.
    • If I’m putting myself in a team’s shoes - you’re looking at these prospects and Warren hits most boxes for a TE with a plus on most. So yeah, he’s a great prospect, no doubt, 1st round talent as a TE. But when I look at him through the lens of that PSU offense, they were running so much through him, I’m not so sure it was beneficial to seeing how he translates.  They were getting him open in the flat, running weird trick plays, and designed a lot of ways to find him on delayed seam routes and such. So a lot was structured around getting him the ball in creative ways to advance the ball, in steady sequences, methodically down the field.  Thing is, yeah he’s catching a ton, is big, and can block, but throw him into an NFL offense in a more traditional sense, he’s gonna be stickied by speedy LBs and big nickels. I just wonder how he is in a more isolated fashion— when he’s just a piece of a greater NFL offense getting shadowed by more talented defenders. I think it could still be great but I have question marks when it’s at the TE position. Will he look no different than other very solid TEs or is he this offensive centerpiece at the position that doesn’t come along often (Bowers, Gronk, Kelce, Witten, TG, etc)? I think he brings a ton and could be one of the safer TE prospects, but what I’m unsure about is if you’re really getting this new age Witten type people are crowning him as. Even if that’s the case, is that worth it? If he wasn’t in PSU’s Franklin/Allar offense, would you be seeing the same output?  More questions than anything - I could get on board with it, but it’s hard for me to really project because of how that offense was (which was so frustrating at times).
    • Twitter sources, but supposedly the Rams want him. He might actually go Round 1.
