Don't be surprise if the Panthers move in next few years

The same reaction when I said Wachovia is gonna fold... figures.

I never said Panthers will move outside North Carolina... I said outside Charlotte.

How is this for a trump card? I knew WB was gonna fold before your inside connection did.

boo ya

Even if BofA moved its headquarters its not taking 45k people to NYC with them.

Just as a legal aside. Be careful what you say in a public domain. Just sayin.

So your entire idea of this thread was to stir up some bullsh*t like that just to get alot of replys? Pathetic.

I've being posting on this board for years and I always do it a couple times a year. Thats why some people just ignore me while others bust their arse to prove their point. Good laugh.

panthersphan:

well, technically i'm a Wilmington homer, but there will NEVER be a pro team there. have to settle for being the home of Jordan. I was just throwing it out there, mostly because I'd love it if I could drive to Panthers games within 30 minutes. (and it would break my heart to ever see this franchise leave the Carolinas). :)

I know what they call Cary, but if you avoid the people, it's a great place. Safest place i've ever lived and very pretty, with all the greenways for walking/biking. We live about 2 miles south of Umstead State Park, which is very nice.

I think everybody here knows you were serious about this thread. Your only backing off of it now because you can't argue against that many people.

I know I know... The big cat said that our Panthers will never leave this place but business is business and no pay no play. Wishful thinking not always works.

Now, why do I say that? The Charlotte is known to be a banking city, 2nd largest banking city in the United States. Soon its not going to be the case. Wachovia is no more and headquarters will not be in Charlotte. I know some people that have an inside scoop on many banks in this area (people that do big internal work for the banks). I knew Wachovia will fold 4 months before it actually did. The same source told me that the headquarters of Bank of America 80% guaranteed to leave Charlotte in next 2 years. If this happens, departure of Wachovia and Bank of America will cost Charlotte around 100,000 jobs and millions in revenue. Many intellectual business people will force to move and that means more revenue will be lost. It will be like a chain reaction so dont be surprise if Charlottes population will have a negative grow.

If this happens it will definitely impact Panthers as a business.

Considering that you "knew that Wachovia was going to fold 4 months before it did", I would ask the following:

Did you short the stock, and make a fortune?

If not, why not? Scared of insider trading?

Wells Fargo has about 5% overlap with Wachovia's operations, and the vast majority of those employed will remain so...IN CHARLOTTE!

As to Bank of America, you are 80% wrong. In a world of financial death spiral, and delevering, no company will afford themselves a 300% increase in the cost of doing business. That's what would happen if they moved to your aforementioned locations. They are staying put.

In addition, don't be shocked to see larger Regional firms add locations to Charlotte. Companies such as Edward Jones, Stifel Nicholas, Charles Shwab, Northern Trust, and the like.

The Panthers are going nowhere. Everyone can now relax!:D

I don't think the Panthers are leaving any time soon.

However...

If Bank of America can no longer afford to pay for the rights to have its name on the stadium...

If Los Angeles puts together a sweetheart deal, and I do mean sweetheart deal (Panthers move to NFC West, Rams to NFC South)...

If Mark Richardson takes over and becomes George Shinn II...

If the Charlotte economy stalls because of this crisis...

then it is not out of the realm of possibility. Anyone who says it is doesn't understand the recent history of the NFL.
