Game 42: Hawks @ Bobcats

A number of things I noticed about the team tonight:

1. DJ is a monster, and to be honest I feel like he had more than just 7 assists out there tonight. It seems as though he had at least 10 but I wasn't counting.

2. Jackson is a grade-A bum lately. 3-14 from the field? Really? That is atrocious. If he gets the ball he either waits ten seconds and decides to shoot or waits 10 seconds and throws a mediocre pass. In my opinion we would be better served having a pure shooter at the 2 spot. I'd be willing to bet they would shoot better than 21% from the field. His bad is vastly outweighing his good, at least lately.

3. Tyrus is going to be missed. Every game I have watched he was calling in the SWAT team on a regular basis. You could tell the Hawks weren't afraid to bring it inside tonight.

4. Why is Eduardo Najera getting minutes over Derrick Brown? That makes absolutely no sense to me, but then again I am not an NBA coach so what do I know.

5. Gerald Wallace was struggling mightily in this game and I can't say that I haven't thought that a lot of late. At one point he missed an uncontested layup. That isn't the All-Star Gerald Wallace of last year that's for sure.

6. We need a big with hands. Kwame has the hands of a boot. It's pretty terrible.

7. Boris has been playing well lately. I agreed with the majority of this board when they called him out for being too passive. Also like the board I feel that he has stepped up his game and it is definitely needed.

Just got back from the game. And I only got six things to say.

Jax and Wallace got to go.

I agree.

Jackson was 3-14 from the field tonight... 9 of those attempts were 3-pointers.

Wallace was 2-9 from the field tonight... 4 of those attempts were 3-pointers.

This has been a trend with these two all season.

At this point I don't even care what we get in return for them. Just get them the hell out of Charlotte.

Come on Jackson is playing bad but Wallace has an excuse. He has pretty much been hurt all season and never has a chance to recover because he is the Heart of this team. Like During the Bulls game after the brewer incident. He just went off. He has been holding himself back so he can maybe get completely healthy one of these days. His nickname is crash for a reason.

Our problem is that we have no depth behind Wallace. We never have that is why he takes it upon himself to play 40 + minutes every game. He is getting older and we still have no back up for him. Just like Steve Smith. He is what Steve Smith is to the panthers and gets the same bs treatment from fans. He has a slump and some injuries and the fanbase is out for his head. They're not superheros you know.

Why couldn't it have been Steven Jackson who woke up from his nap to find a swollen knee and torn meniscus? Some things just aren't fair.

Watch Jax closely. If the ball isn't in his hands, he just stands around watching. If he has it, he shoots a BS shot, tries to drive to the hole and gets little done there, gets his pocket picked because his ball-handling sucks, or commits a turn-over because his lazy, telegraphed passing sucks.

When he does commit the turnover, he just jogs back down to the defensive end. He complains about everything, but most everything wrong is his fault. His defensive value doesn't offset his horrid offensive play. His vertical seems to be about 5 inches when he does go at the rim. It's almost as if Silas is being told to make it work with him.

I doubt any team would want him in a trade, but if there was a taker, then I hope like hell the Bobcats are listening. I think Wallace's game would improve with Jackson gone. I have no facts to back that up, it's just a feeling of mine. Jackson slows down the flow of the offense, which could be taking Wallace out of rhythm. Who knows.

Steven Jackson, please leave. Or better yet, GTFO.

We still have the #8 seed and they lost to a really good Atlanta team that is among the best in the league at winning games on back to backs.

I thought it was foolish to have Henderson defend Johnson, he has too much height on him and it really got Johnson into a flow early.

Wallace hasn't been attacking as much after having several ankle injuries this year. That's a common thing in sports, he'll be the old Gerald before we know it.

Jax game depends on taking bad shots. When those shots go in he's great, when they don't he's horrible.

The team just needs to keep its head up. They're playing well. The Pacers are on a 4 game losing streak. Hopefully they stay cold and the Cats can go better than .500 on the west coast swing.
