Think that AE will become a real NFL receiver next year?

While I am in agreement that AE is not an NFL QB. I do believe Fox had no plans in getting him in the game. The guy has speed and is very dangerous in the second level. It isn't like they gave him many opportunities and he dropped every pass throw his way and proved he wasn't a WR. He never had the chance. Thomas and Clowney just showed Fox wasn't going to play AE.

We were out of it by our Bye week. Why not die with your rookies. Davidson was lost... Fox could give 2 $hits and though the players remained motivated Fox wasn't playing AE.

Why we will never know. I BELIEVE he had an issue with pick and would have rather had something else.

I posted the link a few months back that explained WHY AE was not playing. (if you need me to find it I'll look for it again. BUT to sum it up Hurney said "They drafted him not expecting him to play this year (said just after the draft) and that maybe it would be like two years for him to show his full potential at WR."

On giving up a second round pick in 2011 for Edwards

We think he has the talent to warrant that. You’re talking about him having a year to develop and a year to train at the wide receiver position and returns or however we decide to use him. Hopefully in a year we’ll see that it was the right thing to do. He has a lot of qualities that make you think he is going to be a very good football player.

I hope this helps!

If AE were any good, Fox would have played him. This isn't kindergarten, Fox isn't some spiteful little brat that is going to do something just to piss people off. If Fox was anything while he was here it was professional.

If AE learned to catch...maybe he would have seen the field. If AE could see over the line of scrimmage, which he can't, maybe he would have been in the wildcat formation more. If AE weren't so thin that a defensive back would have broken him in half with one hit...maybe he would have gotten in a game. AE was behind Clowney on the depth chart for a reason...he sucks. If we cut AE today...no other NFL team would sign him. He sucks.

You're not paying attention. Watch much football?

Thanks!

"We think he has the talent to warrant that. You’re talking about him having a year to develop and a year to train at the wide receiver position and returns

This is EXACTLY why Fox wouldn't want to use him or waste any time with him in those roles. Fox probably didn't care about any players that Hurney drafted for the future. Why would he? He knew he wasn't gonna be here.

Fox didn't try to do any of the "OR HOWEVER WE DECIDE TO USE HIM." He didn't try anything new or out of the ordinary. Didn't put him out there to learn. I guess the most disheartening thing for some Panthers fans was to see Edwards sitting on the sidelines with a hooded sweatshirt on with his hood over his head. Maybe because they were App State people, maybe because they wanted to see someone who was local get a chance to shine, or maybe they were just loyal fans who wanted to see Fox try to see if the kid had anything that could help a lousy team.

I am not saying he was a QB or a WR...but he has the potential to be a talented player if given a chance to get some experience. Rookies use playing time as experience. It's much better experience than sitting on the sideline with a hoodie or a coat on "learning" from players who are dressing for a game the same week that they signed with the team.

With a team that was out of contention and had a fractured fanbase, he should've been given a better chance to do something. If not to just excite the fans and players. At his press conference JR mentioned putting butts in the seats. Local talent puts butts in the seats even when the team sucks. I am not saying that this is what JR was alluding to, but it could be connected.

Fox probably wasn't playing AE because he didn't want to and justified that with: "He isn't ready. It is what it is."
