He quite frankly didn't look all that athletic when he was playing in the preseason last year.

Still it's too early to say anything at this point, other than the Panthers royally fuged up trading a 2nd round pick in the 2011 draft for a 5th round player, particularly when chances were likely that the Panthers were going to be in the bottom half of the league and therefore the pick was likely to be early second round.

With the staff we seem to be putting together he may very well do better. He was a project when we took him so I think we will see progress this year. I also think we will see more 4 wide packages so that will help his cause.

Whoever said he was too small needs to take a look around the league. Last year at this time, Edwards was 5'11", 187 lbs, ran a 4.4 40, and a 4.19 shuttle. He could stand a little weight, but those numbers are better than Golden Tates', Arrelious Benn's, LaFell's, Jordan Shipley's, Mike Williams', Marty Gilyard's, and Gettis'. They're ALL better receivers than he was, but his physical tools are there.

He's got long arms, and bigger hands than Tate, LaFell, Williams, and Gilyard. He's already bigger than several big name NFL receivers (DeSean Jackson, anyone?), and he has a cannon of an arm with decent mid-range accuracy. If he was three inches taller he would have been drafted as a QB.

Seriously, all he lacks is experience. And Fox really didn't give him any.

Any company has deadweight hanging around. A new CEO has no attachment to anyone and can therefore look at everyone with an unbiased eye.
