Steve Reed Says 2012 #1 Pick (If Lockout) Would Go To...

I don't think it is disagreeing. You want us to suck so we can get Luck. I am saying that is will never happen intentionally and there is no way the coaches or team would do that in the slim hopes that we could get him. I understand your desire to get Luck, most everyone here wanted him. But honestly that opportunity has come and gone. It won't happen no matter how bad anyone wants it unless we suck despite all of the teams efforts to win. And if that is the case, our problems will go much deeper than finding a franchise quarterback.

I agree, that ship has sailed this year. We don't have to technically "tank" next season. As long as Clausen is under center our chances of getting the #1 pick next year are high.

Pretty sure the Panthers almost won a superbowl with Jake Delhomme. Ravens with a career backup.

Lets take this a lil further,

Aaron Rodgers

Tom Brady

Drew Brees

and then one of the greatest to ever play the game, Joe Montana

Please, don't bother to respond. I'm sure you got more excuses, but they are all weak sauce.

Jake Delhomme and Trent Dilfer were good QB's on great teams. Do you see us as a great team that can plug in a good QB and win the Super Bowl? Oh and would you like to take your chances finding the gem QB that nobody thnks is a gem like Brady, Brees or Montana? Good luck, come back to me in 5 years and tell me where that got you.

How many rings does Manning have again?

Being perfectly honest, immediately after the season ended, with the shellshock of 2-14 followed up by the mess of the initial week, the idea of a year off from football didn't sound so bad to me

I can say that now, of course. Come September, no pro football on my TV screen would probably leave me shaking like a heroin addict :(

Hey, I'd be happy to have a Ben Roethlisberger type QB. Do you see any QB's in this draft that are projected to be on his level?

considering Gabbert and Newton have both drawn comparisons to him, I'd say yes, but obviously they have to actually play in the NFL first.

I can see Gabbert maybe, but Newton is overhyped. Can you really see him running over LB's like Ray Lewis and James Harrison in the NFL?

Haha, no, but if Newton will be successful at the next level it will be with his arm, which is a possibility. Anyway, no point in turning this into another one of those discussions.

I personally don't want Newton with #1, wasn't try to advocate it. Just saying, there will be QBs in every draft that are projected as franchise guys.

I just have a hard time believing that Newton will be successful in the NFL. It's hard to tell when you come from those wacky college offense's like Auburn runs.
