Steve Reed Says 2012 #1 Pick (If Lockout) Would Go To...

Just an FYI, but Luck is a Junior next year. No guarantee that he even comes out.

Redshirt Junior, which actually means he'd still be an academic senior

now unless he for some reason wants to stay again and try to get his masters degree, all it means is that he has one year of eligibility left. his goal is to get a degree though and by then he'll have gotten it

honestly i don't see why everybody's going nuts about this back and forth

think about it as though we're hedging our bets. if a new CBA is reached in time we'll get to watch football for 2011 and work on building our team now. if we lose out on the year, guess what, we've got one more no.1 pick in the draft (and also we'll have our 33rd pick this time), and whether that be Luck still or someone else, 2 years in a row we'll get to pick a top prospect. Not a bad consolation for no football and something that most other teams don't have to fall back on.

Here's an interesting read.........

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/579862-25-reasons-we-wont-have-nfl-football-in-2011

I don't follow some of the logic behind some of the suggested reasons, but one I find interesting is what they said about the UFL. If there is a lockout, I'm sure they will try to take advantage of it and boost their league. Yet the NFL has too much history backing it up to fall to the likes of the UFL. The NFL would be able to survive one lockout.

**** NO!!!! I want Luck as much as anyone else, but a complete year of absolutely no NFL!?

Please no lockout.

I agree no NFL would royally suck....But, the NHL had a lock-out a few years ago, and that lock-out really helped the Hurricanes build a Stanley cup winning team. If there wasn't a lock-out the Canes would have probably not have won the cup that year. so look on the bright side, this could really help the Panthers out a lot!
