My dream scenario:

#1 we trade down to either cincinatti, buffalo, or arizona for their number #1 this year, #2 this year, and next years #1

#2 we draft fairley, peterson, or green depending on whose available.

#3 we fill the rest of our holes through the draft (NT, CB, UT, WR, RG, TE)

#4 the team we traded with absolutely SUCKS next year and we get a top three pick.

#5 if pickles turns into the next payton manning next year (YAY!) then we trade this picks for lots of other picks or pick up a CB (Dre Kirkpatrick?) or WR (Alshon Jeffrey?) whichever one we didn't address this year. If he doesn't (suprise!!!) then we pick either luck or barkley depending on our draft position.

DONE! do not question this.

And yes, I looked for a while for a thread I could post this in.

A perfect question a PSL holder should have asked last night:

"Jerry Richardson stated in January that he does not forsee the team trading out of the top pick but that statement was made before Andrew Luck made his announcement. Has managment softend its stance now or is trading down still off the table?"

See what Hurney says.

First of all, I don't think it's possible. But let's assume that someone actually wants to trade up...we'd get a lot more than a low first and a low second.

eh that chart is garbage. i cant look at the chart seriously and believe in this draft that the #1 overall pick is worth more than the 3rd pick of the first and second rounds combined. I want to know if this chart changes per year, depending who is coming out. Without a true number one, you can get equivalent talent at the #7 pick as you can at the #1, this year.

The point I was making...at least the point I think I was making since this was one month ago...is that you'd get a whole hell of a lot more than a low first and low second (which was the suggestion I was responding to).

The chart isn't taken for scripture, but the #1 gets bonus value just for being #1 and being guaranteed to get the pick of the litter. That high in the first, just a couple spots is worth a 2nd round pick or more.

There's a VERY slim chance we trade down. The last time the 1st overall pick was traded was when the Falcons traded up to take Vick in 2001, IIRC. Even with a new CBA the rookie wage scale likely won't go into effect into next year.

And even if it does start this year, there still isn't any guarantee the CBA will be done before the draft or even if it is that there's anyone on the board that a team would be willing to move up for.

I think it's time for all the "OMG! trade down OMG!" crowd to realize that we're most likely going to be picking 1st no matter what. It's Fairley, Bowers, Dareus, Newton, or Gabbert based on Rivera's comments about drafting based on need.

Especially since Steve Smith likely won't be traded before the draft because of the CBA not being done. I could potentially see us taking A.J. Green IF we were to move Smith, but there will be zero guarantee of that come draft day most likely given the labor unrest.

I still think it's looking more and more like we'll be taking a QB and that it'll be Newton. Now, if we take Bowers I think we can reasonably assume that Charles Johnson will not be re-signed, but since I don't expect it to happen we're most likely going to go QB.

Hurney's already said they're keeping their options open.
