so nfl says, pull the ad or we wont advertise with you anymore? wouldn't that not be a smart move since they'll be losing money?

It's probably more like "pull the ad or we'll talk more with network Z next time your contract is up."

It's the NFL, not the XFL. They're not really struggling to find corporations willing to be an advertising partner with them.

That said, I think this is very, very silly.
