A non sugar-coated look at Jimmy's season

I tend to agree, but if he doesn't get it done again (if we even bring him back) then we'll be pretty desperate for SOMETHING next offseason if Clausen doesn't improve... but I think he has a good chance to...

I agree with this. I think with good coaching and more than 2 games to show himself, Moore could be a good QB. I think if he sits and learns, Clausen could likely develop into a good QB as well.

We'll see. The FO has to bring him back before anything else can happen.

Can Marty afford to have an UDFA beat out his first pick again?

Who do you realistically think we get or who do you realistically want us to get to be in the QB stable this year?
i posted this in another thread.

for competition: gradkowski, tarvaris jackson, grossman, thigpen, moore, alex smith, maybe derek anderson

carrying the clipboard: pennington, bulger, josh mccown, seneca wallace

all of these are realisitic and beneficial options, imo. a couple are shot in the dark, low risk options but i do believe that the are the best ones out of FA.

Too many QB threads to follow.

I like Gradkowski a lot and think he is better than he's given credit for. Not a Tarvaris or Thigpen fan. I think Grossman resigns with Wash and he is their starting QB. No way they cut McNabb and let Grossman walk. He should be the clear starter going into next year and I doubt he wants to leave that to go somewhere where he'll have to compete for the job. Moore and Smith are nice options as well.

And Moore started another game after that. Three games is ALMOST a quarter season. If you want to slice hairs...go shave.

Jimmy basically got the keys to the car in week 2. He was so mind numbingly bad in games where he was setup for easy wins that Moore got the keys back until he got injured.

that makes Jimmy no different than tons of rookies who didn't suck to the degree he did.

some of just don't think his hand was that bad he was dealt. In reality, b/c Moore hand a handful of crappy quarters people think that means the rest of the offense stunk and that is verified by Moore's bad quarters. Jimmy had it pretty dang good imo overall for a rookie. The Moore lead Panthers pwned people in 2009 w/ virtually the same lineup w/ a change at the #2 WR spot. I think QB play just flat out sucked.

Really? So why did D-Will and Stewart struggle mightily? Virtually same OL, right? Stacked box? It's not like they've not dealt with that before.

Clausen played badly...horrible at times, therefore some people seem to already have his fate sealed. Good for you. I'm willing to consider all things that could have contributed to that. A shitty team will do little to help a struggling rookie QB. Call it wht you will, even though many pieces were still here from the previous year ('09) does not mean they performed the same. The entire team took a step backwards and you can chalk that up to Jimmy all you want. Quarterbacks are usually the scapegoats on ill-perfroming teams and rookie QBs, well that's like shooting fish in a barrell.

Why did Clausen take over? Moore was playing lights out and Fox decided to sabatoge the season by benching Matt. If your boy Moore, with the "same offense", was having less than stellar performances, I guess there had to be something missing, huh? It's like people foget that Moore got BENCHED. This is the same guy that people had a man-crush on the last part of '09. Since I doubt you'll concede the offense was out of sync and regressed, then maybe you'll say both QBs suck. That's the only other logical conclusion.

I just cannot wait until September to see Jimmy Clausen take the field on a revamped Carolina Panthers team and lead us to victory after victory. At least that is what I am hearing here.

Must have been that big toe acking that caused him to not show any of that the past season. Hope it is healed by September.

He is probably putting money down on us winning the Super Bowl next season right now. Probably just like someone trying to win money in a pool hall, doesn't show us what he had that first year just to get the really good odds up.

Moore's third start came in week 7, i thought you were talking about he had a back seat to Moore for the first quarter of the season, so I was wrong. However, Moore started 5 games which is over a quarter season. Next time please use correct facts.

I hope the research time was worth it. I was making a general point and the reason I wasn't specific to exact weeks. I get specific when I feel I need to be. Thanks for the input.
