Vince Young a possibility/opportunity for us perhaps???

Young is a physical talent for sure. But 75% of a quarterback's worth is what is between his ears. To this point Vince hasn't exactly shown great leadership or instilled great confidence in his players or coach. Seems to me he would have a lot to prove before a team would want to make him their starter. I would like to think he has the intangibles to be an NFl starter. So far I have seen little to support that.

Between his ears...haha....what was that Wunderlic score....4? 3 of that was just getting his name right.

FYI: You guys suggesting Young as a possibility here might want to take into account that the Titans coach he's been feuding with was a Bears teammate of Ron Rivera.

It ain't going to happen but I would be fine if it did. Like I said before nothing in our FO's history suggest they would make this move.

He's one of the best FA candidates out there because he's still young and certainly would heat up the competition in training camp. He has no more serious personal "issues" than Newton, a guy a lot of members want us to draft with our number 1 pick. But at least VY is a proven winner and experienced QB.

It all comes down to Rivera though and I do see him as the type of coach that would demand a certain level of respect, work ethic and maturity from a player, something VY himself could turn out to respect, trust and follow. I don't see him trying to pull a repeat of his and Fisher's drama with Rivera. Rivera won't stand for it and Rivera also expressed his desire to find a Franchise QB and to be a teacher. VY is a franchise QB who could use a teacher.

I generally don't have a problem with crazy players in positions other than QB, S Smith for example. However, the QB needs to be somebody that can lead others and instill cofidence and/or calm in the team when needed, VY seems like an overgrown 10 year old to me. Sure he has all the physical tools but so have a slew of other big name QB's that have failed miserably in the NFL over the last decade. If he had only played a year or two I could maybe look past some of his behavior as youthful indiscretion but after 5 years and no change I see it as a permanent part of his warped personality that would lead to far more headaches than he is worth.

I agree that our current QB's suck and that we need to add a veteran to the roster to potentially start and to definitely work with the young guys but of all the candidates available VY would be about the worst to fill that role, IMO.

I have said it one, twice and I will now a third time because everytime I come back in to read this thread this is the first thing that comes to my mind....... and it is.......... With the state this franchise is and has been at the QB position this new coaching staff should look into bringing in VY. If they think they can work with him and he will be good here then go for it.

This team HAS to at least explore this option.

It probably has been explored. Then they realized that he doesn't fit the mold the FO likes in all of it's players regarding character, Rivera and Fischer are probably boys and Rivera won't take that crap from him, and this offense doesn't need another immature piece added.

Not one thing makes sense about signing him.
