Vince Young a possibility/opportunity for us perhaps???

For a team in desperate need for a QB, having a Vince Young - a young QB, with talent, who will be looking to prove people wrong - in here is not a bad of an idea. This of course depends on whether or not the coaching staff thinks they can work with him and he will be good here.

I also think I saw somewhere in this tread somebody said Matt Moore will be the starter!!! Are you kidding me?? Next season will be another bust if he was the guy.

Did Texas play against Tennessee multiple times? On a serious note, I agree, his maturity doesn't seem to have improved at all and he still sounds completely ignorant from the sound of that interview. "Elite quarterback"?? At his best he was barely above average. However, I am not against giving him a shot as long as it's not for big money. He would be an improvement if he keeps his head in the game.

Vince Young won a games at Tennessee but I just don't see him being a championship level QB. I don't think the maturity is there...even though people were saying the same thing about Mike Vick before he exploded for the Eagles. If we could get him cheap and we paired him with a guy like Vincent Jackson via FA or AJ Green via the draft then I'd be for it. If all we are going to do is sign Young and then not surround him with any receiver talent then I'd rather just start completely over with a rookie. Either way...I don't see Jimmy Clausen or Matt Moore as the future of this franchise.

This team isn't about the past, it's about the future, hence the "youth movement" and new coaching staff.

That doesn't mean Young is a good idea. KJDaniel is right.

What the team lacks at QB - and all positions right now - is solid, reliable veteran leadership. What in Vince Young's history suggests he offers that?

His best bet is to go to a team that has a fallback and can afford to take a chance on him. We are not that team.

I dont know about Vince. Im the type of guy that will stick up for most of these players, and I believe in 2nd chances, but I dont know if he's ever gonna get "it". I was looking at the other Vince thread, and I agree with another poster in there that says he still seems very immature.

I'd give him a shot. Sign him to a 1-2 year deal, and see how he responds. He could finally get it, and be worth the risk. I feel the same about Haynesworth.

Sorry, man, I just couldn't focus on your post. That sig is just too distracting.:)

Here's the thing, running QBs have a place in the NFL, as they are perfect backups. When your #2 QB who wont get many reps during the week has to play due to injury, you want a guy who can move around and improvise and give your team a chance. Leadership in that instance is not nearly as important. However, for your starter you want an intelligent leader who can understand and dissect defenses from the pocket, even if he can run. A guy like Vince can win some games during the year, but against the elite teams, late in the playoffs, his lack of any discernible intelligence will always hurt his team.

All that, and he is a complete dbag.

I think I've posted it before, but I'm for VY to a 2 year deal. He has shown he can win games and by then we will know whether Clausen's our guy or not. So the guy is a bit of a basketcase, but two years ain't long.

Yea, I'd rather suck and get a high pick with the possibility of drafting a true franchise QB than start a headcase with the emotional stability of a 15 year old girl during PMS who has zero chance of ever winning a title. I have no interest in long term mediocrity.

Vince Young is as good as any other Free Agent on the Market. He has shown with a good running game to be productive. If I had to take a Free Agent I would take VY before I took Volek or Orton.

When did Volek, Orton or any other free agent whine about being booed, throw their pads in the stands, get stuck in the middle of a suicide watch or wind up in a situation where nobody on their team or coaching staff wanted to keep them?

We need a guy with leadership skills. Young needs a team that can afford to take a chance on him redeeming himself.

Our needs and his don't match up...at all :nonod:
