I'm overly dumbing it down Urry.

I'll list all the somewhat decent FAs, URFAs only, RFAs will be assumed to stay with their team. Scrubs buried on the depth chart won't be listed but you can still bring up a name and bid on them if you want. It only ends up being around 4-8 FAs per team on average.

You'll be given a rounded off cap figure, say $30 (million), to work with. You don't have to worry about the lengths of contracts or anything. Someone bids $4, you bid $5, nobody else outbids you then you add the player to your team and now have $25 to work with. Easy enough?

I'll post the full info on this as well as player trades just waiting until all the teams are filled before I start new threads.

One option we could do is just to pick the top FAs from each team and assume all RFAs and role player/depth URFAs are retained (which is what happens alot of the time anyway).

Let's say 4 free agents from each team, and then one is kept with a franchise tag, only 3 players from each team hit the free agent pool. This would keep the pool to a manageable size while still giving teams the chance to go after top FAs.

If we want it simplified perhaps:

We do the draft the week following the Combine.

Draft pick trades are OK and unlimited as long as they follow the Value chart below within reason:

No Free Agency per se. GM's retain all players currently on your roster to make life easier and a total of 3 draft pick for player or player for player trades allowed per GM. These 3 trades involving players would be in addition to unlimited draft pick trades.

All trades involving players currently on an active roster would be subject to review and veto.

I think that is a great idea. But we definitely need to enlist some help for you with the Free Agents. I'd be glad to take offers for a position or two, depending on how many players are in the free agency pool.

Last year I posted up frequent threads trying to get responses from the people to gauge what they wanted. So my advice to you is to start a poll and if you get at least 22-25 owners that say they want free agency, then you do it. But if more than ten say no, then it's probably not a good idea.

(Also, remember to make the poll allow you to see who votes so that no non-GMs vote on the poll.)

Personally I can only see free agency dragging things out, causing people to lose interest or completely overload the guys doing it.

The only way I see it working is if you do a silent auction per position.

Otherwise I feel everyone retains their free agents (with the CBA mess, no one is entirely sure who is a FA, RFA or ERFA.) and you can have up to a maximum of X (3-5 I would think) trades of your own players. Draft picks can be traded as long as they confrom (slightly) to the draft charts.
