Yeah, last year we had a GM thread where everybody had their roster. Just have to make sure everyone UPDATES their first gm roster post instead of a new post everytime they update it so in theory the entire thread should be 32 posts long. Makes it much easier to see what's current.

This is imperative, last year it was a billion pages long.

Personally I think the free agent bidding is going to be a nightmare to track and monitor. I would strongly suggest teams retain their FAs.

I second this, unless we are allowed to use the franchise tag. For example, Peyton Manning is scheduled to be a free agent, there's no way in hell he leaves the Colts.

I still can't see how free agency would work. There is going to be hundreds upon hundreds of bids considering the number of free agents and 32 GMs. It's going to be nigh impossible to track.

Then consider we need to ascertain what everyone's 2011 wages are going to be, then remove free agents and determine what the 2011 cap could be.

I just feel there is far too much guess work and maintenance for it to work...

So all free agents on each team are entered into a pool? So the GM can only keep one free agent from their current team?

You can only use the franchise tag on one player. You can resign your own free agents by bidding on them just like other free agents. However home teams will have a couple advantages: being able to match the top bidder rather than having to outbid them and getting a home team discount factored in once the player is signed.

I know it sounds like I am being critical, but most teams are going to have around 15-20 free agents, with some teams only having around 50% of a roster. That means each team is going to have to make at least 20 bids, which multiplied by 32 is...

I just can't see how it can be moderated. The only way is if each position is 'monitored' by a different person, so all PMs for players go to them.

Or you do silent auctions, position at a time, giving possibly 2-3 days for each position to allow people to place their highest bid.

Regardless, this still leaves the incredibly difficult job of determining the contracts of the remaining players on the roster. Which will not be easy.

Are we doing 'normal' rules (<3 years = restricted, 4+ = unrestricted) as that will make life a LOT easier.
