American Idol

I like how Jacob held it back (exactly what we talked about here prior to a blue-glassed producer telling him). I think Jacob and James really did well this week.

I think the top 3 were:

James

Jacob

tough choice...just don't know because it's muddled there

Bottom 3 will be:

Stefano

Naima despite a good showing

Probably Haley despite I think her being better than Thia or Paul

Stefano should go home. Don't watch, but listen to his performance. There's a note he hits that just comes off as nasaly. He's got mad skills, but I just don't think he has "it".

Pia is growing boring despite her insane talent. She's top 2-3 talent in this so no worries.

Casey I'm growing old of.

I see great potential in Thia and Haley.

Paul I'm not that fond of despite his cool voice.

Didn't get to watch the show till late (birthday celebration with friends) but here are my thoughts...

Casey's deal is unique, but getting kind of old to me. He'll last a while, but I can't see him in the finals.

I really thought Thia blew it tonight, especially on the chorus. Can't believe judges liked her (and missed that she lost the words) :nonod:

Jacob is fantastic. Don't think anyone can doubt that. The audience hugs made me laugh, but JLo creeped me out with her response a little,

Knew Lauren was going to be great from the first notes. Hated her dress, but she chose a great song for her.

Side Note: The commercials for "Sucker Punch" are freaky. JLo's L'oreal commercials though :arf:

I think I've figured out why Stefano bores people. I believe it's because he's boring :sosp: Tonight sounded very "boy band" to me. Yes, he can definitely sing, but he's nothing special. He's one of those guys that a few years from now, people will hear his name, not recognize it, and ask their friends 'was he on American Idol or something"?

Haley isn't great, but she's decent. I don't know if the "stay out of the bottom three by showing off my legs, writhing around on stage and sounding slightly orgasmic on some notes" strategy is going to work, but it was entertaining. If the singing career doesn't work out, she'll probably be great as a 900 operator

Couldn't help thinking that Scotty singing Motown had disaster written all over it. Boy was I wrong. His spin on that song not only worked great, but helped hi show off his range. Also trying to think how I would feel as a 16 year old boy with Jennifer Lopez telling me "you get me all over when you do that" :ihih:

(heck, I'm 44 and I'd like to hear that from her too)

Have mercy, Pia is hot (props to Seacrest for having her spin around). Sadly though, I still see her more as hot chick/potential actress who happens to be able to sing than superstar singer. the judges were right that she needs to mix it up.

Paul went from sounding like Rod Stewart when his voice changed to sounding like Jason Mraz when his voice changed. I feel pretty much the same about him as I do about Casey. Good performance though.

I swear, I really want to like Naima, I just can't. And no, the dancing didn't make her sound any better (it wasn't that great). Cheesy performances like that are when I really miss Simon Cowell :nonod:

Side Note: Watching the news blurbs, I find myself wondering how many Huddle members already have the "stalker's delight" app downloaded :sosp:

And last, James. Lord almighty how has this guy gone undiscovered all his life? I normally hate when somebody tries to do Stevie Wonder because most don't have the shops for it, but James was great. Hard for me to believe that he won't win the whole thing. I'm beginning to think he might be better than fellow rocker Chris Daughtry was. Only odd point: You can really see the Tourettes when he has to stand up there and be judged (not that it means anything).

On a pure "show" note, I think they made the right move having music producers working with the contestants each week rather than just vocal coaches and/or singing stars.

Also, to sum up, much better show than last week.

here we goo.....first I need to defend my girl Pia! Ya, she's playing it a little safe most weeks, but that girl can flat out sing! She's singing along and sounding amazing and then bam she throws it into overdrive and blasts out one of those long notes...amazing voice and control. I hear ya though on the same ole, same ole. Competition is getting tougher each week, so you play to your strengths in my opinion. Oddly enough, Scotty, who can also sing, annoys the poo out of me with his cocky head moves etc, no matter what he's singing, it always sounds the same and they don't give him poo about it. Yes, I'd like to see Pia do something more upbeat, but in a one and done competition, thats a huge risk.

Jacob sounded fantastic and I like that he didn't over sing it this time around.

James rocked the house, no question there. He's certainly having fun with it, let's hope he doesn't start taking things for granted, but he can perform.

Haley sounded great and the genre fit her voice quite nice.

Casey...I still like him alot and he's fun to watch and listen to, but he needs a new twist as well I think.

Paul, I like his voice being different, but he typically annoys the hell out of me. This week I think he finally got a song that worked for his voice and it worked better for me.

Thia, young girl has a lot of talent, but sounded pretty karaoke to me.

Lauren has mad talent as well, keeps her country twang in there but not too much, so sounded ok.

Stefano, kid can sing, but he sucked the Motown and the emotion right out of that song. Pretty much I gave him the same review as the judges did!

Naima, I just don't know what to think about her. She can sing, the dancing was very odd for a singing competition, but hey, she did alright. Same as Scot on her, I want to like her, but it just ain't coming.

Well....

Jacob is obviously the best singer, I think he was far better than anyone. I don't know if he'll win, but he probably should. I don't even like his genre of music but I can't deny that this guy is special.

James did very well, especially considering it's Motown week and you wouldn't expect him to. He's not just a rocker, he has a lot of range like a lot of the big time rock singers in the past had. I kind of hope he doesn't win, so he can do more of the music he wants.

Scotty was pretty good considering it's Motown. He's not NOT going to do country, that's his voice, he was born to sing it, and he shouldn't shy. Why would he? This is about finding recording artist "worthy" singers, and if he wins, he's not going to sing pop, he's going to sing country.

Casey was good, but I'm not sure how long his gimmick will last, but I think he did well.

Thia was OK, she's still very boring. She's really pretty and is a good singer, but, boring.

Pia is super boring, I don't care that she's a really good singer, she's just boring. We've already had Celion Dion in the past, we don't need another. She even stands up there and acts like that.

Lauren was OK, I didn't think it was as good as others, probably cause I think she can do really better.

Stefano is good, but yeah, he's boring, like Pia, we've seen this all before, move along.

Naima was terrible and it's time to go. Just when we get rid of the Spanish girl and her annoying stuff we now get another annoying person. I agree that Simon would have owned her after in the judging, I even told me wife that after watching.

Haley was better, and she's super hot, but, I think she'll be gone soon.

I think Paul did very very well. I think he was one of the best. That's the kind of music he needs to sing. Chill music, with his guitar, and good lyrics. He should be a singer songwriter.

In my opinion:

Top 3:

Jacob

James

Paul

Bottom 3:

Naima

Stefano

Thia

I expect wither Naima or Haley to go though.

I'd be wary of anyone named Casey, I have yet to meet one that I didn't think was a total douche....

Also, I subscribe to the "if you don't like it shut the hell up" theory. But PLEASE stop watching this show so I can have my Fox channel back. Thanks!
