Kiper has us taking Fairley, McShay has us taking Bowers

For those who want AJ, To me, wide receivers are a dime a dozen, and we can find and develop a receiver later on. (cough* Lafell/Gettis cough*) AJ Green would be a disaster of a pick. Compare AJ's college statistics to Dwayne Jarrett's

Honestly, if you remove the names and just saw the stats, who would you say is the better receiver? Jarrett had his one handers, his long Moss like touchdowns, and it got him no where with us. Yet we took Steve Smith in the third round, a little punt returner, and made him an elite receiver. (And would have been hall of fame receiver if it wasn't for the wasted years of QB play. I still think he can get that however, and be the first receiver to have 2,000 receiving yards in a season.) So I say no to AJ, and develop a guy later on. The only receiver I would take high on the draft board would be Alshon Jeffrey, and he isn't coming out this year. (I'd be willing to trade up for this guy)

With all that said, I completely agree with Kiper's mock draft. (When it comes to us, I haven't viewed his other picks thoroughly)

lol so you're saying alshon jeffrey > aj green? so someone of aj green's talent is a dime a dozen?

why compare aj green to dwayne jarrett? then i can mention how nick fairley will have the impact of everett brown

if i were to mock your logic on what you consider draft success (the steve smith example you used) i would suggest getting a second round pick and drafting a DT then, since the best DT we ever had was drafted in the second round being Kris Jenkins

I don't really know that there is less talent in this draft that typical years. I think that there just isn't a clear QB right now so that is how people interpret it.

Last year, Scouts Inc gave out 1 98 (Gerald McCoy, LOL), 3 97s (Suh, Bradford, Berry), 1 96 (Russel Okung), 4 95s, 3 94s, and 7 93s. Clausen had an 89 (McCoy had an 86 and Bradford a 97 for reference) and Pike had a 73. This year, they have 4 97s (Fairley Peterson Green Bowers), 4 96s(Gabbert Namakcantspellhisname Dareus Quinn), 4 95s, 2 94s, 3 93s.

This is all pre-combine stuff too. This is also not meant to say that Suh = Fairley at ALL, btw, and I am 100% convinced his 97 was only due to questions about his durability (since he had two knee injuries in college), so don't assume ratings are purely about potential talent, they are basically an attempt to analyze risk of the pick I think.

McCoy was pretty damn impressive this season and actually had a better pressure-per-play than Suh.

However I think the general concept of your post is right. There is a lot of talent in this draft, just amazingly not at QB where almost all potential draftees are genuine projects (learning completely new play style).

Lol. after 2-14. Mediocrity should be the goal next season.

With a few additions from the draft and Free Agency, and a hungry coaching staff, we could make a bid for a Playoff berth. We have a great stable of RBs. We have a solid D, just needs a couple minor adjustments (mostly coaching).

Our passing game needs the biggest overhaul. That starts with the QB. Yeah, I'm sad Luck didn't declare too. But hey, lets take the other great option!
