Even 1000 stories compared to the amount of pets there have been in the world in just the past 10 years would make it seem that this is not a regular occurence (extraordinary animals), though.

Don't get me wrong, I love my dogs but I would never compare them to a human because they are well, just not on the same level, which is what I think most people are trying to say when they do a comparison.

I wouldn't say other animals are inferior to humans, nor superior.

I would put my life on the line just as readily for you people I have never met and know nothing about as I would for my dogs.

Dogs and many animals are better creatures than humans, point blank, no argument.

Funny enough, I think one of the reasons is that (by peoples own admission) they would be more willing to go the extra mile to help a dog, cat, etc. rather than a person.

I can watch people get hit by cars all day on the internet and not care. Then I see this and feel sad. wtf?

How many stories have you ever seen about one dog screwing another dog over for some shallow, ridiculous reason?

Now how many have you seen of humans doing such a thing?

There was a story where a parakeet got out of it's gage, flew out of the house and made it's way to a the Son's home and pecked on the window. The son recognized it as his mom's and discovered that she had fallen and couldn't get up!

I think dogs/animals are in the same boat as kids. They are innocent and see the world as innocent. Grown men and women have grown to treat each other like poo. That's why someone would go the extra mile to save a pet or a child.

Naw it's way deeper than that. Like someone else said, dogs are so innocent and the only thing they want to do is please their owner. My dog is never happier than when I come home from work and never sadder than when I leave for work in the morning.

Humans are filthy creatures that would love nothing more than to stab someone in the back to help themselves out. Dogs would gladly take that knife in the back for their owner.

For all I know (I can't listen to the audio to that video right now, if there is any) that dog was starving and was dragging the other dog off to a safer place to eat it...

I've seen just as many dogs that are the opposite of this, and bully other dogs/humans...

Domestication can surely change that, and that's all fine and well, but saying you'd value an animals life above another human's is sad... AT BEST, I'd say they were equal...

You have to look at how they were raised. I've been terrified of dogs my whole life for this same reason but now I have two rescues. I've never met an inherently mean puppy. I have met inherently mean children.

You put a dog and a child in the same circumstances (roof over their head, food on their plate, and show them love) and the dog comes out looking better 100 out of 100 times. Sure there is the example where the kid is appreciative and well mannered. But there are just as many examples where the kid turns into a POS and abuses the love his parents give him for his or her personal gain.
