was discussing this weekend how i would absolutely risk my life for a dog long before i would for most other humans

I've had a discussion recently about how insane most humans are for their lack of humanity towards people over animals..

we were actually talking about how there are people out there that would save a dogs life before a humans life.. say they both were drowning..

I find it interesting that some people would save an animals life first since that animal provides them with some sort of self-importance..

putting a human and a dog out in the lake, both drowning.. there are plenty of people who will readily to admit (such as yourself, Crixtala) that because the dog provides that human with self-importance, he feels compelled to save it over another human being...

pretty interesting really...

That theory goes flying out the window if the drowning human is a 22 year old chick who had her bikini top knocked off by a wave. I don't care how much you like dogs.

I deleted that... I wanted to make it a bit clearer of a point...

a dog wags it's tail happy to see you when you get home. it's bred to be co-dependent to you, it also doesn't have an ego. humans are mostly independent, due to our ego, therefore requires no affection from you, (of course not entirely true, all humans need affection)......

pretty interesting really... there's something about having a servant that we appreciate more than another human life..

meh... make of it what you will

but, in today's society, when most animals can show more affection, appreciation, dedication, etc. than some random joe schmoe walking down the street, why would i do otherwise?

to each their own, this certainly isn't about changing your mind, but pointing out to others the absurdity that these people do exist.. (those who will save an animal before they save their own.)

but since you asked why would you do otherwise, because a human life is worth more than an animals.. simple really. just because a dog (for instance) has been bred to be your servant doesn't speak for anything really. you hold a higher value for what you get in return from something, while disregarding why they hold those attributes...

dogs have been bred to be loyal to their owners.. SLJ isn't far off by saying it's survival instinct as well. Have someone else feed your dog for 6 months, and you won't be #1 in his life anymore.. (yes, dogs love social interaction with humans, for the most part.. he'll still want to get pets)

putting more emphasis on a dog bred to show more affection, appreciation, dedication is the same condemnation you give other people.. you are being selfish to your own needs and leading the way of those people "in today's society"...

in fact, you're blinding yourself if you really believe everyone is not in fact affectionate to others.. that person you would let drowned to save a dog could be the leading charity worker of his/her office.. you're letting a small sample size dictate your feelings, when in fact, letting him drowned before that animal would be a travesty..

there are millions of examples why you are wrong, and making assumptions based on the few rather than the many would the the 1st I'd like to point out.. ;)

I think it all depends on the scenario

Examples:

1) my dog or random stranger: dog lives

2) my dog or friend/family: human lives

3) random dog or random stranger: human lives

4) random dog or friend/family: human lives

5) random hot chic's dog or friend: dog lives

we aren't talking about scenarios.. we are talking about people who straight up will save a dog before they save a human...
