Kind of hard to pass judgement on the guy. We only saw him play a handfull of snaps last preseason. He actually looked pretty decent and had good pocket awareness. If you watch his college highlights he throws the ball with finesse all of the time so maybe thats why people say he has a weak arm. Clausen looks like he is going to tear his rotator cuff everytime he throws the ball.

I think they both look better on paper than in real football situations. They need a few years to develope before they can they can be successfull. It really is too bad that Jake imploded before we had a backup plan in place (Moore is a mystery to me). I would think this is a coaching fault. We better prepared for a fullbacks replacement than the QB (though I concede one is much easier to do than the other).

I am a fan not real knowledgable about football so this is a question I hope someone will answer for me.

Is it normal for a QB from a spread offense who missed ota but was in training camp and pre-season not to be able to at least take a few snaps by the third or fourth game of the season?

It was a few weeks into the season before they brought in BSP so he also had those weeks to prepare.

You don't have to with Pike. You know what type of offense it is were going to run and he doesn't fit it. Even if we ran a short, quick pass offense they would feel Clausen is better suited anyway. He has a lot more work today before he's ready to be an NFL QB.
