Wisdom teeth

Know any decent ways to get over the pain of wisdom teeth coming in? My wife is trying to cope with it even though I keep trying to convince her to go to the dentist. She's terrified of the dentist (don't ask).

Any suggestions?

I still have mine (granted, I've only had them for 3 years). They finished coming through last year. Hurt like hell from time to time, but it eventually went away. The biggest bother with it is when eating, sometimes I bite down on the gum between the back two molars on either side. Pain like I can't even explain. But, I just sucked it up. Can't really tell your wife to "man up", but a little advil/motrin/tylenol should alleviate the pain if she doesn't want to go get them out. Eventually, they will stop hurting. Tons of people live with them (I plan on it, unless it causes crowding problems with the rest of my teeth).

She still needs to go to a dentist to make sure they're coming in properly. I just had to watch a video last week on wisdom teeth and whether or not to keep them; my son is getting his out next week.

I went to dentist he gave me vicodin and antibiotic just in case.

Ibuprofen. It is a anti-inflammatory. She needs to take like 4 of them at a time (which is equal to the same strength a doctor or dentist would prescribe). It won't be as potent as codeine based, but you don't have to worry about getting addicted.

However, the best thing she could do is going to the dentist. She can't avoid them the rest of her life.

Just tell her to get them taken out... no biggie...

I had all 4 of mine taken out and was eating Wendy's french fries that afternoon...

There's a little swelling, and some time before the holes fill in, but there is nothing to it...
