Panthers Not Raising Ticket Prices For This Season

"Not raising prices next year." That smacks of pessimism for next season. So next year we'll be hearing "Due to lack of a season last year; ticket prices will be doubled to recoupe losses for the season that wasn't. 'Scuse my cynicism.

Let me get this straight...Knowing that the 2010 season was skuttled from the get-go; they raised prices? Yeah...A deffinate refund should be in order.

Anybodyhome.....if you bought PSLs as an investment (which I doubt you did because you go to the games), then you knew there was risk involved.

I had zero risk when I bought mine because they were not an investment to make money, they were an investment in having a great time 10 Sundays a year. During a shitty season like this one I yell and curse like the next guy from my seats, but I'm not selling my damn seats or PSLs to make a point and then bitch when I don't make a profit.

Well, you're completely misunderstanding my position. I bought PSLs during the initial offering because I love the game. I had season tickets to the Raiders the entire time they were in LA when I lived in San Diego even though I was still in the Navy and was deployed overseas more often than not. In short, I've been going to football games for nearly 40 years.

However, as one gets older, one tends to get wiser as well. I, in all honesty, stopped enjoying the home games couple years ago. It was a game during the 2008 season when I didn't even feel like standing up when the Panthers scored. I no longer felt like yelling and screaming. I just wasn't having fun anymore... yet I still love the game and I still enjoy watching the game. Yet, because my wife is completely immersed in Panther football, I continued to load up the Tahoe at 6AM Sundays and make the 2 hour drive to Charlotte, tailgate (which I'll miss more than anything), go in for the game and drive home, hoping to get in by 8. That's a 14-hour day.

None of the regular seat owners were in attendance at all this season and everything came to a head during the Tampa Bay game when 3 Buc morons in front of us just wouldn't shut up and were being pretty disrespectful in our house. I don't act like an idiot when I attend road games and I don't tolerate it from anyone around me in BOA. I ended up going toe to toe with one of them before the cops stepped in. Mind you, this guy was 2 rows in front of me with no one in between. When the cop escorted us into the tunnel and I was standing on level ground with the guy, he was all of 5'8'". I'm 6'6" @ 270 and I just looked at the guy and the cop and asked the guy if he was crazy or just stupid. I told the cop not to toss the guy, let him watch the game, but just shut the f up. Watch the game, cheer all you want, but be respectful and enjoy yourself. That was really the icing on the cake. I've been in my current seats for 8 years, same place, same time every home game and I got some stupid punk-ass in front of me. It really all changed that day.

The few times I've missed games we've always given or sold the tickets to someone needing extras in our tailgating group. I'm going to skip some games this season in hopes that the few games I do attend I can get some of the good feelings back. Let's face it, the last couple seasons I've been doing little besides laughing at the crap I've seen on the BOA field. You either laugh or cry...

It's not a matter of risk/reward, investment or otherwise. It is a matter of getting your money's worth and I do think we got fleeced in 2010 by paying good money for an inferior product. Sorry, I just don't believe everything Jerry Richardson said about the only way the younger guys were going to get a chance was to get rid of all the veterans. I know Jerry Richardson, I've met him several times, spoken with him at several games almost every season since 1998 and the guy I saw in the presser was not the guy I met.

Regardless, I'm no less a fan for not wanting to attend as many games as I have over the years. I don't sell my tickets to strangers and I think ticket owners can do whatever they like with their tickets and they can call their PSLs "college funds" or whatever they want to.
