Matt Moore: I would love to stay in Carolina

I never said their opinions were right or wrong but it's not their place to say who should be brought in, especially when said player goes against everything the FO stands for.

How is Jimmy supposed to take control of the offense when the leader of the team is openly requesting a different player to be there.

To be honest, most players are too dumb to know the impact of signing player x or player y, that's why they get paid to play and that's why they pay their agents to worry about that other stuff.

I think it's just very tasteless, but back to your point about Vick and Morgan being right now Beason on VY.

Every GM in the league said they don't want VY as their starter. Digest that for a second. All of them. But one MLB says we should and it's obviously the right choice?

Ok I gotta ask. Where did you come up with evidence to make such a bold claim?

Don't assume the Panthers organization views VY with the same dismay as a lot of members on this board. And I'm only using VY as an example for my argument below. You can substitute anyone else of equal caliber from FA and the argument would still stand.

I'm not assuming anything. The minute after it was reported he would be cut in Tennessee, I think Shefter or Mort were on ESPN saying every GM in need of a QB had already stated that they had ZERO interest in bringing in VY to their team to be a starting QB. That is not an assumption.

Ah ok. Ignore other reply. Well perhaps your right, but again, VY was just an example. As far as Moore is concerned the argument would stand with any other FA with the skill/age/experience factor similar to that of Vince Young.

Moore would be a certain #2 on the roster behind most FA candidates.

not sure about that one. I think Moore would be in a legit competition w/ most FA QBs. Too much focus on a couple quarters and not enough on his total body of work. I think he is comparable w/ most FA QBs right now simply b/c there isn't much out there.

Yeah I don't think that's an unreasonable contract for someone like him, it could be much worse. I guess I should have specified in an unbiased competition, where would he rank on the depth chart?

Unbiased current depth chart would be Moore/Clausen/Pike

Depth chart later depends on which vet we bring in (ignoring Has as he probably stays in Seattle and Young as there's a bigger chance the FO signs me). McNabb and Bulger probably beat out Moore, the rest aren't big upgrades and could go either way. So FA Vet/Moore/Clausen or Moore/FA Vet/Clausen.

If they do bring in a vet however, in my opinion that means they think Moore doesn't have much to teach Clausen and he's released.

We don't have Andy Reid.

I don't know how Rivera would feel about picking up the guy who nearly cost a former teammate and colleague his job.

Truth is, we'll never know much of it was Reid and how much of it was Vick finally taking his job seriously for the first time in his career.

I'm not saying it's probable that we would have any interest in VY, my point was that we should consider Beason's interest in him since Morgan thought Vick would be a good guy to bring in last year despite all his baggage.

One way to look at VY is as a guy who could drag all his baggage here and cause us as much or more problems then he did for the Titans, the other way to look at it is that VY could come here with a renewed sense of commitment and desire to prove all his doubters and naysayers wrong like Vick did with the Eagles. The thing you have to consider about VY is that he IS a winner in the league... that may make him worth the risk?

You must not know who the FA candidates are. None of them have the combo VY does and most are comparable if not worse than Moore

Despite all the negative things that have happened to him lately, he LAUGHED at the thought of him having to be a backup. Dude has the maturity of a 12 year old and doesn't seem to get it.

If Vick came out and LAUGHED in the face of being a backup when he got out of jail, would anyone think he changed?

so I must have missed it, no surprise there, but where did Beason say he wanted VY/Mcnabb? I know Clausen was awful, but kinda surprised that Beason did that.

Anyway, VY may be a good QB, and I'm glad he's confident in his abilities etc, but I'm not sure that he is what the Panthers had in mind when they said they wanted to bring competition in to camp. Pretty sure VY isn't interested in that, and if he somehow lost to someone, we'd have a gigantic meltdown on our hands.

I see your point, but he was the starting QB for the Titans for awhile and he IS trying to get a starting job and a big check. What would you have him say?

Isn't that the attitude you want from a starting QB?

He's not going to say...yeah I think I will be satisfied as a back-up QB and be happy about it when his first goal is securing a big contract. There are plenty worse starting QB's on other teams right now and he knows it. If we don't take him, someone will.

I think the attitude is correct, but he expressed it wrong. I agree with TheRealDeal, I would find him laughing as immature. If he said something like "I don't see myself as a backup, I have always been a starter and I plan on continuing that" to me that shows the same attitude but in a more positive way.

He should say he's been humbled and he will gladly accept any second chance he is given. He is determined to work hard and fully expects to compete in camp and do his best. He thinks he needs a clean slate and a change of scenery. He's just looking for an opportunity to show that he's matured and improved as a quarterback.

Not laugh at the likelihood that no one will take him as a starter considering he almost single handedly destroyed the Titans as a team.
