Matt Moore: I would love to stay in Carolina

you call Moore damaged goods but want one of those two?

Neither one of them are coming off a season-ending injury. When Moore was healthy and coming off a decent season, they only offered him a 1-year deal. I don't know why they'd try to sign him as an UFA, even on the cheap.

I don't see the team going backwards and bringing Moore back in.

My guess as of right now would be (Gradkowski or Volek) , Clausen, Pike, (Dalton or Mustain)

Drafting a QB does complicate matters but I am not certain they'd bring in what amounts to 3 projects.

Carolina averaged 131 yards on the ground in Moore's 3 starts. One game they had only 69 yards on the ground. Small number of games really driven by 1 game.

Carolina averaged 151 yards rushing starting from Goodson's 1st start over the next 6 games. Consistantly going over 100 + in every single game. I would say in that stretch of games.......Clausen should have looked better than an undrafted Matt Moore.

Jimmy Clausen wasn't in a bad scenario the entire season....he just played poorly. That 6 game window was a perfect scenario for Clausen to show something. Prior to that window he saw action in 6 games w/ 3 starts under his belt to take some lumps and get some live game speed. During that 6 game window he had a VERY productive ground game, decent D, and ST. Not having Vinny T isn't the reason he blew then. Moore having Vinny T isn't the reason an undrafted rookie looked so much better. Clausen doesn't even have the physical tools/skill set of a very average Matt Moore. Clausen has a lot working against him that has nothing to w/ talent around him or coaching (from staff or players).

So Goodson never fumble the ball? Everybody else was playing at a high level? Oline was so good we should start the same oline again? Gary Williams is a great RT? Bernacrap handles all dline stunts?

Not defending Jimmy because he was bad and if he didn't have a contract or wasn't a rookie I want him gone 2.

But this matt moore poo your on is weak. He proved everybody who said he couldn't handle the pressure right. I don't need 2 see him poo in his pants again.

I am Tossed on the situtation. I truly believe that about 95% of the QBs in the league would have suffered with the Davidson/Fox game plan. I don't blame Moore and I don't blame Clausen for all the poor play. They had a hand in it but I find it hard to believe that a QB that seemed to have a very bright upside and a rookie with some background in the Pro Style offense couldn't seem to get it going. It think it was more offensive philosophy then QB play.

If you keep Moore and Bring a Free Agent in then Pike, Moore or the Free Agent is gone at the end of the pre-season. I would hate to let Pike go without really giving him an opportunity to show he has changed from a Spread Offense QB to an Pro Style Offense QB. He has some good intangibles. Moore and Clausen should receive a Mulligan for 2010 and an opportunity to show that 2010 was the offensive philosophy not Talent that made it bad.

Bottom line we have to have good QB Play from our QB. The question is, who is gonna do it? I hope it is Clausen but only time will tell.

HELL NO on Gabbert too. I am not sold one bit on this guy. I have read he has terrible footwork. Not at least in the 1st round. Wouldn't mind seeing a 4th or later given a shot.

Go Panthers

This is what I think some of you are missing. Jerry put alot of faith for the season in Matt. Matt let him down. Jerry felt like all of us, that Matt would build off his last years performance. He didn't. In the PC he was talking about QB play more then anything. Then in Rivera PC he talk about trying 2 find out if Jimmy can play no mention of Moore. I think Jerry put some hopes in Matt carrying this team too a OK record and earn a Contract but he didn't.

yeah, Goodson did fumble some. Stewart then in those next games came in and was one of the top 3 most productive RB in the entire NFL during that span. OL started to get some consistancy and reps together and started playing well. The run game was VERY good during that span. Run game was very good, D was decent, ST was decent.......there is ZERO excuse for how bad Clausen was from that Tampa game until Pitt. Team around him was fine. He couldn't even remotely run the offense. For any rookie that would be pathetic.....for a "pro ready" 2nd rounder it is just sad.

What is weak about it? All I am saying is Moore was better. Was better as a rookie. That isn't praise of Moore....it just shows how pathetic Jimmy was. Moore was also signicantly in terms of playing the QB position and given the offense a chance to function in 10. Again, that isn't a praising Moore as anything......just stating that a horrible Moore was much better option.

Jimmy needs to be burried the depth chart for at least a good year. Moore needs to move on and Pike imo is practice squad material. Neither Moore or Clausen appear that they can be an answer to an attacking offense next season. Carolina needs to bring in two new QBs. A vet and Clausen is a recipe for another wasted year. Guys can't grow in an offense w/ Clausen at QB next year.

Agree with the running game, but Clausen was dealing with a bad pass blocking offensive line and defence.

Clausen's late season defence gave up: 31,24,31,31,12,27,31

Clausen offensive O-line was 3rd in the league with sacks allowed and 7th in Qb hits.

Along with two rookie WR's who were decent given the cirumstances. But by no mean good consistent options.

And Clasuen is a rookie himself. And of course people were critisizing the playcalling.

Nontheless he shouldn't have played that bad, however, with the exception of the running game, no facet of this team was playing consistenley decent.

Whatever dude Clausen sucked but Moore being the 4 year Pro sucked more and hurt the team more. The plan was for Clausen 2 sit while moore held it down. He didn't and F'ed all Big cats plans up that's why he is not coming back.

Nobody else agrees with you. Their is no way Clausen had a better situation ray charles could see that and he's blind and dead. Also your Horrible Moore was coming in with 4 years of work in pro football.

Now this I agree with.
