Alex Smith has always been so damn inconsistent... but he's never had consistency in his offense, either, so I dunno.

Possibly precludes us from McNabb, although a good OC can customize the offense to match the personnel.

Like others have said, Clausen isn't suited for a vertical passing game either... so I have to think Chud took the job with the understanding that his offense may need to change to match the skill set of the personnel here.

Welp in Alex Smith you have a former top pick at QB who hasn't run himself out of the league ala Ryan Leaf and Jamarcuss Russell. This kid apparently actually wants to win.
