Cowher wasn't going to coach even if offered a contract, and Harbaugh wasn't leaving California. Those are the only guys I would have liked over Rivera for head coach.

We did good given who was available.

Rivera's interviews came over a span of 4 seasons, not 9. (Also, Rex Ryan was passed over a few times before being hired as well)

McDermott's defense was 12th in yards, while having his depth chart being turned completely upside down due to injuries.

Murphy lead the Vikings to the 9th ranked special teams unit in 2009, according to the Dallas Morning Star

Chudzinski lead the Browns to the 8th best scoring offense in 2007. He also made Derek Anderson a Pro Bowl quarterback (yeah, let that sink in a little bit)

For the record, Rivera was rejected 9 times, but not 9 years in a row. He was only on the head coaching radar after the Bears went to the Super Bowl. and then continued to work at a high level wherever he went. Just thought I'd clarify..
