I guess u didnt see rivera's press conference.

the one were they introduced him as HC and he said he was going to be hands on with the defense? i did, and hopefully this means dopie will go back to fetching water bottles and holding a clipboard instead of calling plays. thats why im not that mad. there were high school teams with a better red zone defense than the eagles last year

honestly, all this hubbub reminds me of denver fans jerking it to fox.

and the fact that he said he wanted a staff of teachers.. which McD has still been good at.

Yeah, lol at Peppers on good defense and in the NFC Championship game.

I'm not a bitter hater and I wish him the best. I realize he's on a good D and in the NFCCG, I just think it's funny he left the year before we got some guys that could unlock that potential I kept hearing about for 8 years that's all.

I guess it's more lol at the way things work out.

I wonder what his role is if Rivera is going to run the defense?

i'd bet something like setting assignment discipline in different schemes and looks, establishing a chain of command and protocol for adjusting defensive alignments on the fly, organizing drills to refine players' skills, and making sure everyone on the defense is on the same page and ready for this week's opponent, both their tendencies and their personnel. oh, and whatever else rivera tells him to do. enough jargon for ya?

seriously, i think this role might suit him well. assuming rivera will be calling plays or organizing it so that there are no surprises at the playcalling from McD, i think the panthers will see better red zone performance than philly did last 2 seasons.

Rivera never said he was going to be the playcaller.. I'm pretty sure Mac still has a big role here..
