McDermott is the new Panthers DC

Is anyone else cautious about this. He took over a good defense and in two years they became average. I am taking a wait and see approach before I start jizzing my pants.

Not to be a bummer, but the Eagles the last two years had the 19th and

21st ranked defence in points per game in the last two years.

We do have the better LB core. But they have a better D-line. We have about an equal secondary.

Im looking foward to this combination of Rivera and McDermott. But I don't get the hype.

me neither, i get the fact that people are awed by the "FAST ATTACKING DEFENSE" tag, but really, i just dont get the hype. every eagle fan i know hated "that f**king ginger". one of them texted me saying that this is a good step to getting luck next year.

anyway, we'll see what rivera and mcdermott can do... hopefully not in 2012

McDermott ran the Eagles defense on his own. He didn't have a defensive-minded HC watching over him to ensure things were going the right way. If he starts to f**k up, I'm sure Rivera will step in and put a stop to it.

Plus, we've got much better personnel on defense than the Eagles do.

If that is the case, why don't we get a DC where the head coach doesn't have to watch over him, and maybe step in?

Someone posted something here after the Eagles ass-whipped the Panthers in the first game in '09 calling him a great candidate to replace Fox.

Rivera said he was going to step in and control things. Rivera didn't want a DC who wants to run things his own way. McDermott is perfect. He will do it Rivera's way but knows the system and philosophical is aligned with Rivera already. It will make it easy on both of them and they will make a great team. McDermott needs to regroup and work with somebody with whom he can bounce things off and Rivera is perfect for that.
