Some owners would rather lose season than keep current system

Bingo

Try telling the fat kid at the party he has to share the cake with the others children. The players will not accept less because they are used to getting more than everyone else, including the owner's.

If you go off of Forbe's 2008-2009 numbers, all 32 NFL teams made a collective ~1 Billion USD. That's roughly 30 million dollars of income to each team. As an example, Julius Peppers made 16 million in 2009-2010. So it follows that Peppers made about the same amount as several owners that have roughly 50% shares in their teams.

I'm not sure if you are trying to support or argue with me here...

It looks like you are trying to argue, but those stats only confirm it further...

Here is a look at the Packers operating expenses for 2009. In this case, GB spent 56% of total team revenue on player salaries. I think part of the problem is that owners like Jerry Jones are building massive stadiums to increase ticket revenue, but small market teams can't do the same. The demand for tickets simply isn't there, and with a failing economy the demand will continue to decrease. Something has to give.

rich sob athletes need to learn their place, if not for this sport they would likely be working a dead end job in food service. They need to lose these greedy lawyers and get something done

The agents have done more harm than the attorneys. Still, it's hard to fault the players for wanting as much as they can get. The rest of us would do the same. But, it's time for the players to face facts, and the facts are that this current system of compensation is unsustainable.

I do think that if the owners stand their ground, the players will eventually cave in. There are probably many players that actually "need" 2011's paycheck in order to pay their bills, and, given the short life-span of a player's career, many of the lesser players probably won't make back this year's losses throughout their career.

Not arguing with you. Just stating facts. You make your own conclusions.

Some people might think that Julius Peppers should make as much as the owner of the team that has invested heavily and has much financial risk. Others might not agree so much.

If there is a lockout for the 2011 season, will there still be an NFL Draft this summer? Or will the NFL Draft be postponed until there is a new CBA Agreement?

Still be a draft, and Carolina would also own next year's #1 overall pick (Luck).

What would happen to the AE screw-up 2nd round pick given to NE? Would they get that in 2012 also?
