Let Us Play (lockout)

There are 100's of millions of reasons why($$$$$$$$)there will be no lockout. Both owners and players are fully aware they will both lose in the event of a work stoppage. So each side will continue posturing up until the 11th hour, then hammer out a deal. Whether this occurs before April remains to be seen. If it doesn't, teams will just have to augment their drafts with subsequent FA signings I guess.

not that simple. unsustainable business model must be changed.

no reason a compromise can't be made, but to make it out like there is only one side that needs to be making compromises in this is foolish. BOTH do.

Impossible to know if this is true or BS considering the owners are not willing to show the books.

I'm so tired of hearing about "show the books". Privately held organizations don't have to show their books. Period. Either work for what's being offered or go to work elsewhere.

I work for a privately held company. I don't know how much the company or its owner makes. I get paid a fair wage and don't care if the owner makes a ton...hope he does.

Owners own. Players Play...for a wage that's far superior to fair. The players need to stop trying to be owners.

When's the last time your owner tried to take some of his money back?

Lol, sorry JOAT, but this is probably not the right time to be asking that question.

I know SEVERAL people that have had their salaries cut (and even more that have been displaced) because the company couldn't survive with the current business model in this economy.

I haven't had a raise in 4 years, and went two years with a mandatory furlough day every pay period to cut my salary by 10%. If we wanted to, our only option was to "cash-out" vacation days to make up the difference. If I didn't like it, I could have given notice and bolted to a better job opportunity. I looked around a bit and went on some interviews, but there was nothing out there for me to make even half of what I do at my current company. All these things were done IMO so the board could maintain there huge salaries, and I'm ok with that.

Moral of the story?

If you are so unhappy then go play for the UFL. James Harrison saying earlier this year he considered retirement because he couldn't play real football anymore?? Go play for the UFL then. Or defunct Arena League. Or one of the 1,000 semi-pro leagues around the country. If you like that $25,000,000 you're making in the NFL then quit bitching, because you'll get no sympathy from this middle-class schmuck.

This.

Bunch of greedy turds on both sides trying to grab more than their fair share.

(even if they've convinced themselves that it's fair..)

Both sides just need to shut up and get it done, or hurt the game and lose out on even more money because of a lockout.

So why should I believe the NFL is unsustainable if they offer no proof whatsoever other than they say it is? I'm not saying they have to show them, but if they want people to believe there are actual facts to back up their claims, they should. I have a hard time believing a bunch of billionaires crying that they are losing the shirts on their backs and then ask me to take their word for it.

On twitter I've seen several players circulating tweets about a petition to block the lockout. I signed and if you want to do the same you can here:

www.nfllockout.com

No. Players are going to have to take a pay cut like hard Working Americans have done. the current system is not, and will not work and the owners have said F*ck no to it continuing.

If the players want to avoid a lockout then get that POS union rep out of the ***** court room (where he is going to get his ass kicked btw) and to the negotiating table and get an agreement in place.
